Wow. That story is so appalling. I believe you and/or your spouse/significant other/designated family member HAS to advocate for you.

I thank my lucky stars my medical team is the opposite of what was described.

Everyone has the right to be comfortable with the people they are working with if it doesn’t feel good, move on. :)

You most certainly did and do deserve better Lisa so good for you for firing that onc! As you rightly say, no one should be treated like that and they most certainly not should have their hope taken from them.

As to the gastro at Virginia never wanting to see you or your husband again Kris, their loss too!

    Hugs,

You absolutely have the right to fire any medical professional, especially one that functions that way. As a healthcare provider I would be embarrassed to do even one of those things mentioned. And an injection in the BATHROOM, absolutely NOT, ever, ever. At that point I would have made a scene…..of course being a healthcare professional makes me a bigger pain….as some doctors at the hospital.

There is no excuse for poor bedside manner either. I have called doc’s on it before….there is a gastroenterologist at Virginia Mason that never wants to see me or my husband again.

    UGH!

I fired my first oncologist. He gave up on me before we even started, he gave me no hope. He was also unkind and rude. I decided I deserved better and that no one should be treated poorly and no one was going to steal my hope. He gave me six months to live and that was over three and half years ago.
