Remember that your doctors are owned by the drug companies!!!! Whoever told you that someone was healed with a natural product is risking fines and that product being outlawed. According to the FDA the only thing that can cure anything is surgery or a drug! Hmmm I wonder why that is $$$$$ I’m convinced that there is a cure for cancer,But until people in this country rise up and say and stop being sheep and fight back.

She told us to go ahead with the AHCC. All the reports we read said it can’t do anything but good, so we are in the process of ordering it as well.

When your naturopathic Dr says “she has seen two people in her practice healed using it (ie Avemar)” what exactly does she mean ? Did you ask whether these people were also taking other treatment and what their clinical background was ? Certainly everything I read about Avemar sounds good. It isn’t cheap (about $160 per month) but if it works that’s peanuts. The ER by the way refers to “estrogen receptor”.

Regarding AHCC this is a Japanese product derived from mushrooms. A Japanese trial on 222 liver cancer patients has been reported:

    http://web.cancernutritioninfo.com/main.cfm?id=1490&display=yes&RequestTimeout=500

This wasn’t a proper clinical trial in that the recipients of AHCC were “self select” ie everyone was given the choice (of the 222, 113 opted to take AHCC). Nevertheless the results indicate a positive influence on post-surgical recurrence (34% of those taking AHCC had recurrence, 66% of the others had recurrence) and on overall survival (80% of those taking AHCC survived, 53% of the others survived). Given the self-select nature of the trial, my oncologist dismisses these results as being meaningless. However, as noted in the report, “more patients who appeared to be sicker, based on blood test results, decided to take AHCC …. in other words, the group taking AHCC may be expected to do worse outcomes than the group not taking AHCC …. despite this the group taking AHCC did better”

I’d be interested to hear what your naturopathic Dr thinks about AHCC. By the way, American Biosciences Inc (who manufacture Avemar in the US) also supply AHCC which they call ImmPower and they describe as an immune system booster.

    Geoff,

We asked Mark’s naturopathic Dr. about this (Avemar) last week and she said, she has seen two people in her practice healed using it. She gave us a bunch of packets of it. Mark will start it immediately. The information you gave on AHCC I have not heard of, please see if you can find out more information. I would be very interested to know what they are referring to.

ER positive cancer – I’m unclear on that but I will send an email to Mark’s oncologist and see what he has to say.

Any more thoughts or research regarding Avemar ? And what about AHCC, I seem to remember that you were investigating (but I can’t find the thread).

My oncologist is very lukewarm about these products but he doesn’t think they’d do any harm. But I guess that many oncologists have a mind-set towards chemo and only chemo.

I noticed that on the Sloan-Kettering website:

    http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/11571.cfm?RecordID=748&tab=HC

about fermented wheat germ extract (WGE) they say “because it potentiates estrogen receptor activity, patients with ER positive cancers should avoid WGE”. Any idea what an “ER positive cancer” means ?

I should say that I originally read about Avemar in a magazine called Alternatives which was written by a Dr. David Williams, who apparently travels all over the world scouting out treatments and debunking scams. He couldn’t say enough about this product and was very impressed. That led me to Pub Med where I read all the articles he had sited and several others for myself.

I have been researching something the last few days that I’m very interested in and I will pass it on here. I’m going to post some of the articles here so they can be more easily accessed. The product is called Avemar or “Ave” in the United States (it has only recently been available in the US).

There are about 20 articles in pub med (you can reach that site from the general information area here – it is very easy to register and access information). All of them show that this natural product is doing good things where cancer is concerned. We are meeting with our oncologist and a naturopath in the next week and we will discuss this product with both of them. It looks to me like this is a natural product (they say it has no side effects, just doesn’t taste too great) that will break the barrier between modern and alternative medicine – at least that is what the peer-reviewed articles are saying.

I would be very interested to know if anyone has been taking this and what their experience has been.

Below are a few of the articles that interested me from pubmed:

Fermented wheat germ extract (Avemar) in the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases.
