Welcome Dr. Sonnenday, Lauren and Pam are such gems to share you with all of us. My care is at the Cleveland Clinic, my surgeon is Dr. John Fung, my oncologist is Dr. Bassam Estfan and he is working with Dr. Javle at MD Anderson on my treatment plan and my Radiologist is Dr. Stephens. They are all wonderful, caring people like you.
Lisa CraineApril 13, 2012 at 4:23 pm #59941tiff1496MemberThanks Pam! Your right MDA is a great place, but you know me…I’m not going to be happy until I hear a doctor tell me yes.
Dr. Sonnenday seems very nice and understanding. And just seeing that he posted here and took the time to email me, lets me know he cares about people and finding the cure!
Thinking about yall, and I hope Lauren is doing good.xoxo Mama Pam!

That is great! I know you are at such a great place in MDA. But another opinion never hurts. For some reason, we have never felt compelled to look for a second opinion. We always felt that we had the best doctors that cared about Lauren and would do anything in their powers to help her. So I guess we had and still have complete trust and faith in the doctors that treat her. I think you are doing so well and I hope one day you can have surgery. Take care my sweet!
Love, -Pam

April 13, 2012 at 3:27 am #59938EliSpectatorDr. Sonnenday, welcome to the forum! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to join our extended CC family. Your input will be of great help to all of us, patients and caregivers.
April 13, 2012 at 2:05 am #59937pamelaSpectatorCathy- Yay!! I am so excited he is on this site. Thanks for telling Lauren about it. That is so awesome that he knows Dr. Chapman. Small world, isn’t it.
Hey Tiff- Hope you are feeling good. I know how desperately you want to get well and I’m right there with you.
Lori- I can’t wait for you and your husband to meet Dr. Sonnenday. I pray he can give you the hope you are looking for. Have you been given an oncologist yet? Let me know who it is when you find out. Lauren sees Dr. Mark Zalupski. He has done so much to help her. Good luck!
Betsy- Just wanted to say hi and hope you are still doing well.
April 13, 2012 at 1:18 am #59936betsySpectatorWelcome Dr. Sonnenday! Thank you for sharing your expertise. I’m a patient at the Cleveland Clinic. Any chance you know Dr. John Fung or Dr. Bijan Eghtesad?

They are such a top notch facility. We are so happy with Lauren’s treatment there. Good luck tomorrow and let us know the plan of attack. All the best to you and your family.-Pam
Pam, my husband got his new patient packet tonight, and his appointment tomorrow is actually with Dr. Sonnenday. Given the wonderful things you’ve had to say about him, we’re feeling very positive. We’re finding everybody in the U of M system so far to be so communicative and helpful, which is such a change from, basically, two months of doctors not telling us anything.

I’m always looking for more opinions on my cancer. Are you willing to look at my scans if I mail them? We live in Alabama, but will travel to any doctor that will give me hope. Right now I’m being seen by Dr. Javle at MD Anderson.

I only knew he was a doctor because of you posting about him. He proved what a great doctor he is when he said Dr. Chapman was his hero!!! LOL!!!
Lori-so glad you are getting more opinions.

I just wanted to thank you again for encouraging me to contact U of M. My husband has an appointment with them tomorrow, and we are so far thrilled with how seriously they are taking things and how willing they are to work with us. We just had such discouraging, frustrating encounters with the other doctors he’d seen. But since we’ve got the ball rolling on getting him into the U of M clinic, I really feel like a weight has been lifted, and I can relax because he’ll be working with people who have seen symptoms like his before, will know how to diagnose him, and will hopefully be able to successfully treat him, whatever it ends up being.

April 12, 2012 at 4:56 pm #6656pamelaSpectatorI just wanted to say Lauren and I are beyond thrilled to see her surgeon, Dr. Chris Sonnenday, post on this site. For those of you that don’t know, my daughter, Lauren, is 26 years old and has Cholangiocarcinoma. Dr. Sonnenday is the one that had to break this terrible news to us. He is the kindest, most compassionate physician we have ever met. I think it speaks volumes about his character that he would take the time to become a member of this site and offer his expertise. I hope you will all take a moment and welcome him to this site. He will be a huge asset to all of us and help make more people aware of this terrible disease. Thanks so much, Dr. Sonnenday and welcome to the family!!
