More good news! Teddy just got the results of his second 6 month CTC Scan. He had the Whipple Surgery 1 year ago. (See our other posts)
Clean and green all the way! The ONC he is using is extremely pleased to say the least. He is also gaining weight, working and golfing. If the weight gain doesn’t stop we will have to buy yet another wardrobe! That’s OK we will take him any way we can have him!

Your news is wonderful. We too have been blessed with clean scans. My husband’s surgery was in October of 2005. He had clear margins following the surgery but had some lymph node involvement. It has been a long, hard detour in life but so far so good. I know that we are not out of the woods but we try to build on each positive bit of news we get. Mike is still not feeling up to par. Fatigue, tightness around the area of his incision and getting going in the morning is the hardest. We are hoping that each day will be a little better. His oncoligist and radiologist has said he has gone through very agressive surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy and this will take its toll on the body. I continue to pray for everyone on this site and hope that we will begin to see more and more good news and success stories.
JoyceSometimes I feel “guilty” writing about our success story and then I feel it may give others hope. My husband, Teddy, had bile duct cancer August, 2005. He had a Whipple Surgery performed and then aborted after 4 hours as the dye from the endoscopy had leaked on and destroyed his pancreas. The DR needed the Pancreas healthy as he had to cut the head to get to the bile duct valve. Three weeks after the aborted surgery he developed 2 E Coli infections and we almost lost him. Then on October 3rd he had a successful surgery and the DR removed ALL the cancer. We were lucky that the cancer had not spread. This all happened while on vavcation and our 2 week vacation turned into a 10 week stay out of town. On the plane ride home the 2 tubes in his stomach (drainage) blew out on the plane. His remark was, “did you ever see the movie Airplane?”. Once we got home we discovered that a small hole appeared at his resection. The choice was to go in for a 3rd surgery or into the hospital (rehab) for 4 weeks on NOTHING but IV. We chose the IV and the hole did heal. The only other major problem was hiccups that would not leave for days at a time and went on for about 6 months. We finally found the anwer: Brioshe.
An old fashioned remedy but it worked. Teddy just had his 3rd check up with the Oncologist, since March and all is GOOD! He will be 74 in October, is working and golfing.
We know we are not out of the woods for years but feel so blessed to be where we are.
If you asked Teddy he would say your mental outlook has so much to do with how you feel. We wish you all the best and look for more success stories.
