I want to add my welcome to all of the others here and I too am sorry you have reason to join this site.

I am no doctor, but it sounds as if your CC is extrahepatic. I also had ECC with a sight invasion into the head of my pancreas (no lymph node involvement). I had Whipple surgery which removed the entire head of my pancreas (along with a lot of other stuff) and then had 6 months of chemotherapy. I just celebrated 4 years since my surgery and am feeling great.

I’ve also done Reiki and Classical Five-Element (Worsley) Acupuncture, along with exercise and some nutritional changes (don’t eat red meat or processed foods). I don’t know if it helps, but it doesn’t hurt :)

I wish you the best with your surgical consultation and keep us updated on your progress. Please feel free to contact me at randi.barrell@gmail.com if you have any questions for me.

Welcome to our unique family and I’m sorry you’ve had to join us. You have come to the right place for support and a wealth of information. My mother was diagnosed in Oct at 63 years old and had not been hospitalized since 1989 for a hysterectomy. Its so puzzling how many health conscious, active people have been stricken with this dreadful disease. Keep living life to its fullest. All the best to you.

I too am glad you found this site, but sorry you had a need to do so. We do have something somewhat in common as my daughter-in-law is a Nia instructor. I have to admit I don’t know a lot about it, but she swears by it. You sound like you keep very active and were in very good health until now and have a great attitude. I hope all goes well on the 10th and yes, let us know when you have some results. Take care.

Welcome, Triesing, to our elite little club but sorry you had to become a member. Wow, you do sound like a very physically fit woman. Your CC is where my Teddy’s was at the ampulla and the head of the Pancreas although his never invaded the Pancreas. He had a Whipple surgery and sailed right through it. Happy belated birthday, I am closely right behind you. Please let us know how everything goes on the 10th and you will see you have come to the best place there is for CC.

Hi Kris. Energy Medicine as I am learning it deals primarily with the five rhythms of Ancient Chinese Medicine — the 14 meridians used by acupuncturists — plus the chakras and the aura and another five less well known of the bodies energy systems.

I’m sorry you had to find this site, but welcome to our family! It sounds like you are very proactive, and that is important in this fight.
Prayers for surgery and keep those thoughts positive. I am unfamiliar with Energy Medicine: is that like Reiki?
Keep us informed on what decisions are made. I hope someone at UCH is well versed in cc?

The Monday before Thanksgiving — Nov 25th — was my first symptom that something was not right. By Wednesday, Dec 4th I was in full Jaundice, and on Sunday the 8th I took myself to get some blood labs to be able to take to my doctor. More lab work on Monday and Tuesday led to an Ultrasound and a CT Scan on Wednesday and an ERCP on Thursday the 12th to put a stent into my Common Bile Duct (CBD) through the Ampule. This relieved the block of my CBD and started to bring me back to ‘normal’. The biopsy from the ERCP took about ten days to return and it was equivocal, so we went to the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) last Monday, Dec 30th, for an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) with fine-needle aspiration. The EUS showed a 26x28mm tumor on the head of my pancreas that is possibly invading my CBD and my Superior Mesenteric Vein. I’m going back to UCH on Jan 10th for a detailed 3D scan of my pancreas and a discussion with Dr. Edil about the surgery option.

I just celebrated my 76th birthday. My stay at Mercy Hospital in Durango is the first time I’ve spent a night in a hospital since 1958. I’m in vigorous good health (except for this!) doiing Yoga and Nia dance (see nianow.com), cross-country skiing and bicycling. I’m also just about to receive my Certificate as an Energy Medicine practitioner at the end of this month — just in time to help me with my healing!!
