Has anyone tried Radiofrequency Ablation on their bone mets? If so, did it help and where did you get that treatment??

My sister has mets to the hip and L-4 of the spine. She is taking DIladud and has a fentynal patch. Seems to work some of the time. She has also had radiation treatments that worked a little bit.

Whom it may cooncern: It appears that the Zometa treatment did not really do much of anthing for me, not saying it wouldn’t help you. It just created to much fluid build up for me because of all the mets I have. So I had to back off from that Treatment. Someone with less mets maybe could benefit from Zometa. You never know until you try.

Did you see what Jeff has been on. I think it is called Zometa. It is fairly new I think and seems to be getting great reviews. Chucks is currently dealing with a recurrence in the liver but is solely based in liver. He doesn’t have bone mets. Check out the Zometa, definitely could hurt.

Please pass on to Fred how sorry I am that he has so many painful mets. I can only empathize as my husband had so much pain down his leg that was caused by a tumor met to his spine. That was Cyberknifed with resulting no pain to the leg and we go for a follow-up scan next week. I just hold my breathe with these scans. Whenever there is a new pain you just wonder if its a new spot that has cropped up. Wishing a mircle for all of our loved ones so hounded with this dreadful disease.
KarenChristina – Fred has been on both the patch and oxycontin for two months now, somedays his pain is next to nothing, but most days it is still around a 5 to 7. We have started to talk about other pain options with our docs, as it seems like it is time to increase or change what he is taking to try to cut the pain down. For the past week he has had to increase his oxycontin to 120 mg, at least once a day, sometimes twice and has to take oxycodone for break through pain, along with the patch.
Does Chuck have a lot of bone mets? We have them basicaly from head to toe, and with every scan they seem to be increasing. His doc told me the other week that if he didn’t have the bone mets, the pain would be minimum, which just makes this whole thing that much worse.

Chucks use to be on the Fentanyl patch and said it worked really well. Anyway, I am surprised the doctor is prescribing both oxycontin and the fentanyl patch. When I requested this for chucks. The doctor said he did not want to prescribe both. It was one or the other.

Collen…. I have bone mets to ribs, left shoulder, and spine bone. I ‘m living almost pain free by taking Morphine 30mg every 8 hours and 4mg of Hydromorphone every four hours as needed for break through pain. You have to take without skipping doses or the effect of relief is not maintained. I tried skipping and ended up in hospital for three days for pain management and was up to 60mg at one point. As you know we all respond differently but this is what works for me; and I still stay pretty active. Fred wish you relief real soon by trying something new. That patch some says works real well also.

Jeff G.See Other Post: Trying Zometa for bone pain to my ribs appears to be working, although I’m doing EFT and getting results as well form overall pain , depression, I Just Don’t have that general come and go ucky can’t be bothered attitude. Eating and normal bowel every 1-2 days. Haven’t seen that in years.
My husband Fred has bone mets in his ribs, shoulders, neck, spine, skull, hips, really too many places to count or list. He had radiation in March and just started radiation on a couple more spots this week. The pain associated with all these spots is extreme and the radiation only does so much. He has been taking Oxycontin and Oxycodone and will start on a Fentanyl patch today. Was wondering what others with bone mets have done to control pain. Thanks! – Colleen
