    Hi Catherine,

Glad to hear that your mom is doing well! In terms of CA19-9, the trend is more valuable compared to a value at a single time point. The test is easy. If you and/or your mom worry, I would suggest check it again in 2 or 3 weeks. If it continues to rise, I would then talk with the Onc. Otherwise, I would just closely followup.

Best wishes to you and your mom!

Catherine….my husband’s CA 19-9 post-resection trended upward and indicated disease progression albeit clean scans and good liver function values. The question arose: no visible evidence of disease – do we treat or not? We awaited to additional CA 19-9 test results (continued rise of markers) and then proceeded with treatment.
    Hugs,

    Hello,

We are so fortunate with how Mom is doing so well, so just a little thing that is nagging at the back of our minds. Since diagnosis in Oct 2013, CA19 has ranged from 42-49 even though chemo and SIRT has shrunk the tumor, and we even had a clean PET scan a few months back. However, with the clean PET the CA-19 had not decreased, and even increased a bit. At that point, they said not an issue.

On our last visit with the docs, all looked good but they had forgotten to order the CA-19. Decision was to stay off treatments and live life. However we had it done after the appointment, and it is up to 57. I know these levels are still low, but would love to hear from others on if they had these type of levels correlate with progression.

    Thank you all-
    Catherine
