It is my hope that we can expand in to all other states also. But, this is a beginning:
If you are a California resident and would like to participate in this upcoming event please, let me know. marion.schwartz@cholangiocarcinoma.org

    Hello Patients’ Voice Network Volunteers!

The National Patient Advocate Foundation cordially invites you to attend the California State Advocacy Day on June 10, 2010, at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

What is a State Advocacy Day? An Advocacy Day is an organized day where California healthcare advocacy volunteers convene at the State Capitol and meet in pre-arranged appointments to have their voices heard with their elected officials on healthcare issues. Specific talking points surrounding issue(s) important to California will be provided by the NPAF team. Our California Committee is currently setting up appointments for morning and afternoon meetings, with a lunch break in between.

In addition, we will schedule a teleconference well in advance of our Advocacy Day to discuss the day’s agenda in more detail for those attending the event.

    Tentative schedule:
    Date: June 10, 2010
Place: State Capitol General Assembly Building; Sacramento, California
    Time: 9:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
(We will meet in the morning for complimentary light refreshments and review the talking point & the day’s agenda for our legislative meetings. Complimentary lunch will also be provided.)
Passing healthcare reform was an important first step, however, uninsured, underinsured, and other patients with chronic, disabling, and/or life-threatening medical conditions must continue to be heard at the legislative level during this budget crisis period. By joining the voices of other California patient advocates, you can help ensure that all patients achieve representation and are offered access to affordable, high quality healthcare.

The NPAF team urges you to take the challenge and continue to speak up for healthcare and many who are unable to speak up for themselves. Please RSVP to alikhaani@aol.com or contact Mark Stephens at markstephens1000@gmail.com (202)347-8009, by May 25, 2010.
