Well she certainly ain’t sharing it with us up here! Greedy Julia taking all the summer sun whilst we get all of the winter snow…….Me thinks some sort of trade is in order? After all, David Cameron does say that we are all in this together. Hmmm……

    Hi Marion,

Ha! We do get some sun here in the summer, honestly! But this summer has been very bad indeed and I can count on 2 hands the amount of good days that we have had so far, and it is the middle of July!! Yep we had the day in June with the hail stones and inches of rain in one day, but these past 2 days have been quite good. And we have gotten pretty good at grabbing these good days when they come along! I blame Julia for hogging all of the UK sun!!

    Hugs,

    Gavin

Hi lovely lady! We had a nice road trip. I let Kyle (17 yr old) do most of the driving. My Sister lives in Summerlin and honestly we don’t Gamble when we go there. We don’t even go to the Strip. We did family things (she is 9 years younger than me) and chil laxed! I was glad to get home as I am having a terrible time getting my sugars under control. But got in with an Endocrinologist
for Sept. 26th, that is how long it is taking.
My brother is coming in Saturday from Chattanooga for a week and he stays at the Hyatt Scottsdale but we eat out every night, so that is nice.
Then the 27th the 4 Lads are coming in, my bro-in-law is the lead tenor, and I am going to watch their 2 shows and go to dinner with them.
I called Mayo today but had to leave a message and the lady did not call back. If she doesn’t call tomorrow I will try again Friday. If they say no then in 2012 I will be calling MD Anderson which is opening here. Thats about it for now. Hope you had a great time. Love you!

You are welcome everyone. Gavin, have you actually had some sunny days in Scotland? Just wondering. Your video from a few weeks ago showed hail in June.
Lainy, you must be using sun protection because I could not detect a bit of sunburn when visiting with you in Phoenix. Did you have fun on your trip? Be honest, did you play the slot machines?

Marion, very good article and it applies to everyone not just Cancer patients! We have to keep our Care givers well also. Especially good for people who live in ‘hot’ cities like Phoenix!!!

    Hi Marion,

This is a great artice and thank you very much for posting it. If I could just add that anyone who has had PDT within the last few months needs to be extra ultra careful of the sun after undergoing that treatment. For those who don’t know, PDT makes the skin and eyes extremely sensitive to lights and the sun anyway and that will be exacerbated greatly with the summer sun. Sunscreen and lotions will not be effective here for blocking the damage that sun and light will do after having PDT. After my dad had his treatment, he had to cover up completely on leaving the hospital. Wide brimmed hat, gloves, full covering on all skin and he had to get his glasses darkened by his optician as sunglasses were not strong enough. This went on for a few months and I can’t stress enough the damage the effects of the sun and light can do for someone who has recently had PDT. Apologies if I sound like I am going over the top here, but I saw how quickly my dads hand would burn standing outside for 10 minutes in virtually no sun when he was doing the paper bag test 8 weeks after having his PDT.

    Thanks again Marion!

    Gavin
