LD – I relate completely to the total change of personality and the children (even if they are adults) wanting to know where their dad is. My husband is so easily confused and I didn’t know that it could be the toxins. I want to ask the doctor about that tomorrow, but my husband gets upset if I bring up things he is no longer good at. He doesn’t see it as trying to help. Bless him and bless you. Thank you for sharing these thoughts. Susan

My husband’s mind was not good, especially towards the end. He got easily confused and did a lot of strange things. The Doctor told us that toxins from the liver build up and affect the brain. There was a medicine he gave us that helped, but I don’t remember what it was called. It was liquid and real syrupy. My 40 yr old son, who has Juvenile Diabetes, related it to being alot like when he is having an insulin reaction. My husbands personality changed tremendously to the point that my children wanted to know where their dad was. I would not wish CC on my worst enemy, it is such an insidious disease. Hang in there and know that there are many thoughts and prayers on your behalf. May God bless you. LD

    Ashley,

My Mom had brain mets at the end but as Marion said, Ammonia can also be a cause. Oddly enough urinary tract infections can also cause confusion.

One of the family jokes we had was that “CHEMO BRAIN” is contagious. Anything forgotten or misplaced by anyone was referred to as chemo brain. My Mom thought this was so funny and delighted in telling us we must have caught CB from her…..

Hugs to you and your family,
    Pam

We have found memory loss to be a big problem and I get concerned about Randy and finances. He seems to have trouble keeping track of his bank account, bills, and other financial business. I have been worried about his brain due to his major change in mental attitude and outlook. I realize a lot of it is fear, worry, anxiety, etc., but he personality is not the man we have known and loved. Please let us know what the doctor says about your mom. Blessings, Susan

Ashley….. High ammonia levels can cause this type of behavior also. But, there could also be other medical issues occurring something, only the physician will be able to diagnose. I would make a call in order to have your Mom seen, ASAP.
    Please, keep us posted.
    Best wishes,
    Marion

I am curious if anyone has had the cancer spread to their brain or know someone who has. My mother has been fighting CC for the past 5 months and seems to not be herself. She has a scheduled MRI for next Wed. She keeps talking about my rehersal dinner, when I’m getting my cheerleading pictures, stuff like that. I have been married for 2 years already and out of high school for 8. Shes just not herself and I’m a little worried. Is this just “chemo fog”?
