    Hi Hesw,

It is certainly nice to hear from you.

The effectiveness of medical marijuana as a cancer treatment is still not known.  There have been few studies on whether it can cure cancer and nothing so far has been reported that I can find in terms of studying the impact of medical marijuana use on patients with our rare cancer.

There is much more evidence that medical marijuana can help with symptoms and treatment side effects.  We have seen similar reports on this board from patients who try it.  An important caution is that if a patient is trying any supplementary treatments, to be sure to let your doctor know just in case there is a chance it would impair the effectiveness of chemo or other medical treatments underway.

Gavin had provided a summary report on what is known about medical marijuana and cancer below.  I see it has just been updated so I will provide the link again. https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/patient/cannabis-pdq

    Take care, regards, Mary

    Hi you guys
    CANNABIS OIL USE WITH CHEMO

I live in Spain where you are allowed to smoke marijuana and keep it at home for personal use… You can even grew your own plants as long as the neighbors are ok with it! There are smokers associations. However , doctors cannot prescribe you it for health reasons.I think we all know about  the marijuana legal grey areas.

    I don’t smoke marijuana BUT
I use Rick Simpson  oil  cope with the side effects sometimes. It does really help with that.

I don’t know whether it actually shrinks tumours or not but it certainly could  do .
Ideally Id like to know from someone if they feel RSO has shrunk  their tumours.

    Thank you

    Hi Jeff,

It is good to hear from you.

I thought you might find the following of interest – a link to a ”not yet recruiting” trial looking at the efficacy of cannabidiol-based regimens in treating various cancers including liver cancer.  Cholangiocarcinoma is not specifically mentioned in the announcement.  The article Gavin posted also mentions there are some trials in the works.

    https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03607643?term=Cannabidiol&cntry=US&draw=4&rank=26

    Regards, Mary

This is correct. Unfortunately, until a pharmaceutical company can either patient Cannabis, synthesize it, or somehow make money off it, there will never be a study that the medical community will deem sufficient to prove it can treat cancer.  Cancer is also a huge money maker. The drug companies have no intention to cure a disease they make billions if not trillions of dollars on treating.
