My mother, who is 74, was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in the summer. She was ttreated with capecitabine and suffered a heart attack after two weeks. Following this she has been offered only palliative care. Has anybody any experience with any other treatment regimes in the UK. I asked about Avastin but was told that it was not licensed in the UK and a trial would take 2 years to setup. My mother has been jaundiced but has had stents fitted to help drain the bile. Her appetite is failing and she is very sleepy. Apart fromthis she jas a reasonable quality of life but the doctors seem to have given up on her.
