Thank you all so much for your sweet condolences. Life does go on, but dreadful sometimes without Charlie. I’m nowhere near that “acceptance” part of grief. I’m in the “I can’t believe he’s not here anymore stage” I guess…shock and denial??

Tess, I love what you said about Charlie playing in a bigger band now and Butch playing golf Joyce. Thank you Sophie, I hope you’re doing alright. Karen, Heather, Colleen all with recent losses of your loved ones, thank you for taking the time to comfort me.

Kris, Lainy, Joyce M, Marjo, Janet, Darla, Jan, Jamie, Patty, Terri, all of you. You’re the best!

    Love, Carol

    Carol –
I am so sorry to hear that you lost your Charlie. It has been almost 8 months since I lost Fred and as you said take one day at a time. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Carol..when I lost Lee just two months ago, I thought the very same thing…now what will I do with me? Just know that right now seems soooo very, very overwhelming and you simply do not know what in the world you are going to do…but you already said it…one day at a time. My very best friend told me after we left the hospital, “you know how you told Lee go baby, go…he is looking down telling you the very same thing…go baby, go….” my heart aches for you and please know that I will be praying for you.

    Love,
    Heather

    Dear Carol,
I write my condolences with mixed emotion. Knowing Charlie is now pain free and at peace is a comfort. Knowing how your heart aches makes me very sad. I pray for you and your family as you go through this horrible grieving process. Please take care of yourself.
    Love,
    Karen

    Dear Carol,

As you say, Charlie is well and free in heaven, no more suffering and the peace of no more suffering. Reading your beautiful tribute about Charlie and your strength, I can only say how sorry I am, and it’s like losing an old friend to me because you have given me so much support through your messages. You and your family are in my prayers.

    Love,
    Sophie

    Dear Carol,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you and the kids. Yes, Charlie is in a better place now, and the suffering is done. Hopefully, all our sweet husbands are together up there, Charlie playing sweet music and Butch playing golf! So, we know that, but it doesn’t help much right now , does it? Anyway, we are all here for you, and will continue to pray for your family.

    Love,

    Joyce C.

Dear Carol, I was just looking at your Caringbridge site yesterday and sent you a note last night to say that I can feel your love for Charlie from across the miles. He fought hard & you were right there with him, as I can tell from the stories of your posts. Charlie is playing with a bigger band now, making harmonies for the heavens… I’m sure the angels welcomed him with open arms.

It’s true Carol, one day at a time, Charlie is at peace now – and forever in your heart.

    Many hugs to you.

    Carol,
I am so sorry for you and your family’s loss. I have been keeping up with your blog and your family has been in my prayers every night and will continue to be.

Your love for each other and your family showed through on every post both here and on your blog. My heart is so heavy for you and your family, but you are right, Charlie is at peace and he is no longer suffering. You remind me so much of Charlene who fought so bravely with her John. You have shown so much strength and dignity and fight. I know you will feel like you have to be strong for your children, but remember to take care of yourself as well. Through your blog, I know that you have wonderful friends, family and church community to help you through these times. We are here for you too…and you dont need to pretend anything with us.

    Hugs.

Dear Carol and Family, we are so very sorry about Charlie’s Passing, but relieved that he is no longer in discomfort and suffering. You are just wonderful people, the kind that everyone would want for a good friends and now Charlie will spread that happiness and warmth all over heaven.

If I should be the first to go,
And leave you alone, My Dear,
Let not your heart be lonely,
Nor in your eye a tear.

Grieve not for me, my darling,
    I’ll not be far away,
With petals of love and tenderness,
I’ll pave for you the way.

To join me in our sanctuary,
    And ne’er again we’ll part,
Grieve not for me, my darling,
    I live within your heart.

    Take joy again in living,
As you did in years gone by,
God knows of what He’s doing,
    And not be questioned why,

Grieve not for me, my darling,
My life with you on earth,
    Each moment filled with happiness,
And love so few be worth.

I’ll be waiting for you Sweetheart,
    Where skys are ever blue,
With eager heart and open arms,
    Patiently for you.

Grieve not for me, my darling,
May faith and my love keep
    Your soul filled with contentment,
    Eternally I sleep.

Our prayers are with you and your family.

    Dear Carol,

I am so sorry for your loss, but glad that Charlie is no longer suffering. He is in a better place smiling down on you & your family. He will be in your hearts & memories forever. Hold on to that. As you said, now all you can do is take things one day at a time. As all of us who are going through the grief of losing our loved ones to this terrible disease know, it is not easy, but we are all here for you to help give you strength & comfort. You & your family are in my thoughts & prayers.

    Love & Hugs,
    Darla
