Hi Carol- Dave and I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. We got word from Dr. Kennedy today that he received Dave’s films and will look at them today and give us his opinion. We hang our hope on anything these days. I can’t even think about “letting Dave go” I cry over everything these days. A Hallmark card is enough to make me blubber if you know what I mean. I send good thoughts out to the universe for everyone on this site. Everyone’s joy is ours as is everyone’s sorrow. Is Charlie feeling any better? When will you know about the chemo and the therespheres? Will you be going to Dr. Kennedy for that? Keep on keeping on. Patrice

Thanks Kris for your prayers and encouraging words. I hope you’re doing well. Dumb question – do you have spring in Sweden now? I hope so! I’d like to send you a big armful of NC daffodils.

Patrice, I’m sorry things aren’t going as well with Dave. It’s really true what you said about trying to stay positive…harder and harder. I’m so emotional right now too, how about you? Went to church this a.m. and cried off and on when anyone asked about Charlie. Charlie says now he doesn’t know if he has a few months left or a few years. Of course, none of us do, but I know it’s hard on him getting this latest bad news. Best of luck with Dr. Kennedy. We were just getting ready to have that done last year when Chapel Hill called to do the resection. We were very impressed with him and his whole office there. I hope Dave and Charlie can have that done if it turns out to be the best things for them. Are you close to NC?

    Love to you and Dave,

    Carol

Hi Carol- Sorry to hear your news. I hope Charlie can have some chemo to hold things at bay. Dave’s most recent chemo didn’t go well. They are suggesting radiation now to try and shrink the tumors and we have also sent his information to Dr. Kennedy at Wake radiation to see if he is a candidate for theraspheres. He has now developed ascites but they think it may be due to the mitomycin chemo he had. Hard to tell what to do for all of us. One doctor says one thing and then another says something else. Trying to stay positive gets harder everyday. All the best to you and Charlie.

    Oh Carol,
I have been thinking about you and Charlie alot recently and was just about to email you to check in on you guys. I am sorry Charlie’s cancer seems to be progressing. It makes me so angry and confused as to what is cc really is and what can one do with it. I cannot imagine what must be going on in Charlie’s mind has he has done everything he could. Now that being said, you look him in the eye and you tell him he is not going anywhere and wait for Dr. Sanoff to think of the next course of action. Theraspheres have helped several people and I hope your insurance company gets a sharp talking to by your doctor. Best of luck. Good thoughts and special prayers coming your way. You and Charlie have become very important to me. I think we are linked by you helping me find Dr. Sanoff. Anyway, I hope things settle down and Charlie gets his treatment.

Dr. was able to burn 1 tumor with RFA while Charlie was under sedation yesterday in the hospital. CT scan that’s used to guide the RFA showed “suspicious” lesions in the liver. Got MRI last night and dr. confirmed his suspicions that there are a few new tumors in the liver and one has doubled in size since Feb. MRI. Charlie said he feels worse emotionally than he did last year when he first found out he had cancer – like it’s starting all over again, only worse. After much chemo, radiation, chemoembolization and resection, now this. It’s just not fair for any of us touched by this. On this site, I’ve heard some people say it’s slow growing and some say it’s aggressive. I thought it was interesting what the Dr. said. He said it’s sneaky and can be quiet for a while and then all of a sudden, it just seems to burst into an aggressive phase and that’s what he thinks Charlie’s has done. Dr. said tumors aren’t candidates for RFA again because of being in the “resection bed” and so close to the bowel and also their size. Charlie really doesn’t want to do any more chemo, but he said he would try it. Meeting with oncologist soon to see what kind of chemo and going to try theraspheres. The doctor said he knew BCross would deny it, but then he can talk to them and try to get them to approve it. I think Charlie has to heal for a few weeks before this can be tried. We’ve tried about everything. I pray Charlie can hang on longer. We’re not ready to let him go. He had been feeling so good. It’s just hard to understand. Love and best wishes to all here. We’re still fighting!

    Carol
