    Dear Brigitte,

I agree that talking with a counselor would be an excellent idea. I sought out a counsellor when I was doing chemo, to help me deal with all the emotional aspects of having the cancer. She was a counselor who specialized in oncology patients and she was very helpful. We actually didn’t always talk about what I “thought” was bothering me….but I was able to work through some things that I thought I had a handle on and didn’t.

    Best wishes….Julie

    Dear Brigitte-

We’re all hoping for the scans to show great results. However, although we are here to listen, I think having a counselor to speak to could be a good thing too (even with good results).

    Best wishes,
    Catherine

Brigitte, I am sorry that you are experiencing pain and an irritated stomach. Based on my husband’s experience and comments I’ve read from others on this board, it seems that the symptoms occur and/or get worse the longer a patient is having chemo treatments. Good idea asking oncology nurse about side pain. (I know from an earlier post you are reluctant to take pain mess due to concerns of getting too reliant on them. However, I think small doses for a short term can be a big help in maintaining comfort.)

I hope your upcoming scans show a good response to the chemo. Try to take it one step at a time. There are several other options to consider if the chemo stops being effective. I know this is so very difficult to go through, especially when you have lost your husband and sister. Please know there are many people that care and are here to support you. You are not alone.

I have had 11 chemo infusions since January. The first three months was not bad, just tiredness but now on my 11 infusion I have pain on my side and my stomach seems very irritated. Sometime when food gets to my stomach it burns. I am also feeling bloated. I started taking gasx after eating and it seems to help. Not sure what to do about the pain so placed a call to the oncology nurse. I am waiting for a call back. I have one more chemo infusion before my scan in July. Sure hope the chemo helped shrink the lesions.
I am thinking about seeing a counselor after my scan results if the news is not good. Just feel a bit alone with all this.
