Grover, not to worry as I believe the Chemo goes on working, important thing is for you to build up those pesky varmints. In the meantime I hope you and your famiy have a Happy New Year and a much healthier 2012! 2012, where has all the time gone. I thinkright now I would like to be Benjamin Buttons and go backwards, lets see, I could be my Granddaughter’s roomate at college! LOL
December 31, 2011 at 5:34 pm #55999marionsModeratorGrover….annoying it is, but you will be ready for the next schedule treatment. Enjoy your break and have a Happy New Year.
All my best wishes,
MarionDecember 31, 2011 at 3:25 pm #55998groverMemberCongrats, I haven’t had the low platelet problem since the 3rd visit for chemo. But yesterday they threw a new marker at me that caused my chemo to be cancelled.
Neutrophils, those pesky little white blood cells, min supposed to be 2.5 and mine were 0.9. Dr. Onc said no,no,no to the chemo. Evidently he had said ok recently as looking back at my blood tests, they have been in the 1.5 and 1.7 area. Has to do with my immunity system being too low for chemo.
Now I’m off for 2 weeks, next visit is Jan. 13th, let the body rebuild.
I felt let down, like “all dressed up and no place to go” but what are you going to do.
Prayers to all for a Great, Beat CC kind of year. We’re in it to win it.

December 30, 2011 at 3:56 am #55995lainySpectatorPam, our Prayers really work around here don’t they? Glad Ryan got to take part in his Sister’s treatment, that was probably very important to him. Sheesh right back at you! We can help with prayers but we can’t dish out happy pills! Guess we should just look at it that patients have the extreme right to not always be happy. I think that cocktail would loop me. Heck a real cocktail loops me.
Hope all of you have a good weekend and some enjoyment ushering in the New Year.December 30, 2011 at 3:41 am #55994pamelaSpectatorThanks for the prayers. They worked!! Lauren’s platelets were 137 yesterday. So she got her chemo. (Don’t tell Lauren this and I can only imagine how hard it is but I think they put a grumpy pill in her chemo yesterday!) Sheeeesh. Hopefully, she will be in better spirits tomorrow. Ryan really learned a lot. He went back in the lab with her when they accessed her port, went in with us to see the oncologist, and sat with Lauren most of the six hours she was getting her chemo. He gave her a lot of support. I am really proud of how sweet he was with her. Take care everyone. I love you all.

December 28, 2011 at 8:27 am #55993pamSpectatorPam, wishing you safe travels tomorrow. I am sending prayers that Lauren will be able to have chemo.
December 28, 2011 at 5:21 am #55992wallsm1SpectatorBest of luck, Pam! I hope the platelets cooperate! I know how frustrated Lauren must feel when she can’t get chemo so I am hoping everything is a go.
Have a safe trip and hope you had a very Merry Christmas!
That is so awesome Gio posted on here! I was happy to “hear” from him!

December 28, 2011 at 4:29 am #55991EliSpectatorPam.. best of luck with chemo. Fingers crossed that Lauren will be able to get her next round.
You are so right to take Ryan with you. I’m certain it will be an eye opener. My wife is having chemo tomorrow as well. We are debating taking our daughter with us, for exactly the same reason. We are supposed to get a big snow storm tomorrow, so we are still on the fence about dragging her with us.
Wishing you a safe trip,
EliDecember 28, 2011 at 4:17 am #55990lainySpectatorPam, Prayers, prayers, prayers coming at Lauren!
December 28, 2011 at 3:47 am #6129pamelaSpectatorWell, we are having the same problem once again. Lauren’s platelets continued to drop every chemo. Last time they were around 116 and today when we went to Mercy near our house they were 99. Her doctor will not give her chemo if they are under 100. Once they dropped to 86 and she couldn’t get it. Then by the next week they were up in the 300’s. They are so close to 100 that we are going to take the gamble and drive to Michigan anyway. We are taking my son, Ryan with us tomorrow. He is on break from college and I want him to get a good feel of what his poor sister has to go through. I’m sure it will be a real eye opener for him. So please get your prayers going that Lauren’s platelets go up even just a little so she can get her chemo. Thanks everyone.
Love, -Pam
