hi Nicholes my mom had 2 chemoembolizations the first one was not to bad but the tumor grew. She chose to have a second one and she never recovered from it. She had not been ill before then. Her second one was on July 27, 2010 and she passed on Jan 4 2011. She was extremely ill for the last 5 months we all wish we had not done the second one. It was indead the worst 5 months of all of our lives. She was 83 It has been 10 weeks today. Good Luck sending prayers your way.

Hello my friend V. I got the files from Hospice and they were extremely upsetting. We gave them to an attorney to take a peek at but he is gone until next week. Hope you are doing great!

Nicoles – My son had two chemoembolization procedures in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He went through the process fairly well (a little naseua). However, after his release from the hospital, fatigue OVERWHELMED him. Be prepared for this. He also had terrible, terrible depression. Cried for days which was really not his way. The doctor said some people seem to react like this after the procedure. The awful fatigue/depression lasted about two weeks. He did have good success with the chemoembolizations greatly reduing the size of his tumors. However, had had metastes to his lymph nodes and succumbed to CC in 2009. Honestly, if we had it to do all over again, I would have hoped he didn’t choose this procedure. But that is because he had tumors in other locations besides his liver. If the tumors were confined to his liver, it may have been helpful. He opted not to do a third chemoembolization when the one doctor recommended it, as he felt it was taking too much out of him. Hope this helps. – Nancy

Dear Nicoles, welcome to our wonderful family but I am so sorry you had to find us. I don’t have first hand info on chemoembol but if you go to our search engine at the top of the page and type that in, I know quite a few posts will appear on the subject. I also know that you will be hearing from more members in the morning. Where is your mother being treated? Knowledge is powerful and needed to help fight CC so read up here as much as you can. OPlease keep us posted on what is taking place with your Mom.

My mother was diagnosed with CC in Nov 2009. She had one tumor on her L lobe and was surgically removed in January 2010. She did not have any other type of treatment afterwords. 1 year later she has 6-8 tumors on her R lobe, which are inoperatable. Doctors are recommending chemoembolization. Anyone with any good or bad insight on chemoembol?
