Good points, Daisy. I agree in that there is plenty to dislike about pharmaceutical companies. Medicine is a business and those investing in these companies are less likely interested in the health of patients, but rather they expect a return on their money.
However; if indeed many people with the same cancer are cured with a treatment offered in a private clinic, which require a substantial amount of money as well, then of course, we would have the Holy Grail of cancer treatment. But, this is not so.
Our bodies are complex, cells are complex, cells dividing uncontrollable are complex. Years and years of cancer research resulted in some advances, but as a whole, cancer continues to kill many people.
Gem/Cis does not provide a cure, but it is the largest study ever conducted on a large group of people comparing one group treated with Gemcitabine only to another group receiving the combination of Gemcitabine and Cisplatin. It is not considered a “curative” regimen in fact, as you know, other than surgery removing the entire tumor, we don’t have curative treatments. But, for many, this cancer can be held back and can be viewed as similar to that of a chronic disease
Ultimately, patients have a right to make choices including considering that of Quantity of Life vs. Quality of Life.Hugs,
MarionDecember 4, 2015 at 4:34 am #90615daisySpectatorLet’s think about this….this hospital and others similar have doctors that claim to have found cutters for cancer but because of the bog pharmaceutical companies not making any money their theories got shut down. Doesn’t sound to far fetched does it? Cancer treatments are a huge money maker. I am not buying into anything no one is more skeptical than me. I have been through 7 hospitals with my mother because I am extremely proactive and never take no for an answer. I ALWAYS want to know why??. I am sure there are many gimmicks taking advantage of desperate people every day. Today we are not desperate but I am sure the day will come. I am going to follow this gentlenman named Ryan D. Luelf on Facebook he just returned from the Chipsa hospital after being diagnosed with stage IV Lymphoma. I am curious how he will do after his month there.
I am reading so much that diet, juicing and supplemnts have helped many….our body is comprised of living cells that feed off of enzymes. The enzymes come from what we eat…I think it makes sense that our diet could help??? Possibly cure I don’t know but not ruling anything out. The one thing I know is the gem/cim is not the holy grail it is the standard of care and the results stink. Thinking out of the box is why my mom is still here I need to learn more about all of the alternative treatments.
What I wondering if anyone knows anyone who went there and experienced first hand good or bad experiences??

November 30, 2015 at 10:10 pm #90613lainySpectatorI agree, Gavin, I have always felt that if a treatment is so good it would be done in other places as well. If it is too good to be true it usually is not.
November 30, 2015 at 9:51 pm #90612gavinModeratorA quick google shows that the hospital in questions seems to be big fans of Gerson therapy. A link on Gerson therapy –
And another – http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/patient/gerson-pdq
Personally if it was me I would have nothing to do with this therapy at all and if my dad asked me about it I would have told him the same.

Gavin

MarionNovember 30, 2015 at 2:17 pm #11912daisySpectatorI am just curious about the Chipsa Hospital in Mexico. There is a man named Ryan D. Luelf that I follow on Face Book and he is there treating his stage 4 cancer. The whole concept between diets, oxygen chambers seems interesting? Anyone have any input on this?
