Elizabeth, that sounds like wonderiful news! I studied a ton about naturpathy when my dad was diagnosed and Vitamin D kept coming up in my studies. Infact the hospital we were at(Cancer Treatment Center Of America) prescribed Vitamin D along side his chemo treatment. That didn’t last too long for us, because he couldnt’ tollerate the chemo(xoleda) and/or anything else he was being given, so we stopped the Vitamin D shortly after he started.
I wish you continued success!!
Peace
BarbaraMarch 24, 2009 at 8:36 am #27617devoncatSpectatorBest of luck on the trial. My doctor was debating between panitumumbab and avastan for me and I ended up with Avastan. I think it has something to do with which type of enzymes your tumor produces as to which one is better. I got Avastan as the sample of my tumor taken during surgery wasnt sufficient to know for sure which type I had. So I am very interested in how panitumumbab will work. Keep us posted. I was also researching ironotecan and was thinking about asking my doctor about but I forgot so thanks for the reminder.
Best of luck and get some more tumor shrinkage!

Thinking of you and sending many hugs your way,

I am patient # 1 – and have very advanced AND metastatic disease (on imaging studies) and am on narcotics for pain though my liver function tests are holding up. I was in incredible health before this happened three months ago so maybe that has helped – plus I am determined to live long enough to get my children (15 & 17) through HS as I am already a widow . Anyway, although there is something else, I think, going on for me as I actually had some tumor shrinkage earlier than expected (after only one week of chemo) and have been megadosing with 50,000 IU Vit D a day, 1000 mg resveratol, and around 3 fish oils a day, I was told by a number of doctors I spoke to (including at Sloane Kettering and Pittsburgh) that this is a great trial (I am a doctor as well, BTW). Insurance will cover the first two drugs but not the panintumubab – which is being supplied by Amgen. Anyway – I will keep you all posted but I wanted to let you know about this. My physician is Nevena Damjanov (Nevena.Damjanov@uphs.upenn.edu) and I have been immensely pleased by her care. Anyway — if you are interested I would contact her ………….. Elizabeth
PS – I would also consider the supplements I am taking – see the website for the Vitamin D council. Even though there isn’t data for CC some of the date for other cancers is encouraging …… certainly led me to give it a try.
