Hi Carol and Leonard. Teddy, 3 1/2 years ago had a Whipple Surgery. The cancer was in his bile duct valve. Fortunately it was contained but as we know it returns. Last April it returned where his duodenum used to be. For his particular type of bile duct cancer chemo will not work. He had radiation to reduce the tumor last summer and in December he had Cyber Knife. I highly recommend it, 3 sessions and you are done. The problem is it cannot be used on everything. Look up Cyber Knife on the Internet, fascinating. The gold “rods” were placed around the mass to guide the cyber knife. There are 4 of them and like I tell Teddy now, he is worth his weight in gold as they will be with him forever. The rods are injected and all was painless. Cyber Knife started out as a procedure for brain cancer only but they are now using it on more places. Yes, Carol, this web site has brought us together from all over the world. That’s a wonderful thing. I posted yesterday that no matter where we travel we can now find a friend.

I would also like to know the answer to the above as I have just been diagnosed with a growth on one of my lymph nodes. I am having it operated on in 3 weeks. I wont go on as I have left a post on my own question page…..I best wishes go out to you both… It is strange that there are so many different kinds of treatments from country to country???

    Lainy,

What is the CyberKnife System targeting. Did your husband have surgery for bile duct cancer and the cancer resurfaced in a lymph node?

Where did they place the gold seed?

Hi everyone. 2 down 3 to go and all is well. This was an interesting day as I got a demonstration of the whole cyber knife thing and then was talking to the receptionist and 2 other gals came out and I was telling them about the Urologist story and one of them said, “Oh, I worked for him for a few years and you are doing a wise thing to go to another doctor!” Wow! I will call one they recommended in the morning and see if he takes CIGNA. I always say the bigger the world gets the smaller it is!

Lainy, I’m glad it’s going well for Teddy. I’ve always been interested in Cyberknife. It does sound fascinating. Keep us posted.

Hello to all. Teddy had his first CK yesterday and just wanted to let you know that so far no tiredness or nausea. We shall see how it progresses. I am sure after a couple more treatments we will see something! The first one took 3 hours (no magazines in the doctors office) today they said about 2 hours. Teddy said the machine is fascinating and they may let me come in for a few minutes today. He took a CD of Il Divo and played it 4 times! Today, more CD’s.
OPRAH: I am going to do a follow-up and will try to call the show in January.
