Sorry about your dad but this site will give you a lot of hope and valuable information. I live in Richmond also (in chesterfield). I was diagnosed in Jan of this year. The one thing I can tell you that I have learned is get second and third opinions. I have had a rough time with chemo not working and having to find a new oncologist. I just returned from MD Anderson for my first consultation with them to go into clinical trials. They didn’t put me In a trail on this trip they want my onc here to try another chemo treatment with different drugs. Below I have listed the Drs here in richmond that I dealt with.Surgeon was dr. Ralph layman
Va Cancer institute was my first oncologist but after 1st Round of chemo we parted ways
Dr. Ryan Raddin is my new oncologist now and I love him.
Dr. Shroff is my dr at MD AndersonGood luck to your dad and you. This is a crazy emotional ride because everyone is different and everyone reacts different to the treatments.

CatherineJune 11, 2015 at 6:03 pm #88575gavinModeratorHi there,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and sorry also to hear about your dad. But glad that you’ve joined in with us as you’ve come to the best place for support and help and will get loads of both from all of us. Thanks for letting us know what your dad is going through and I am glad to hear that he was able to have surgery as so many people after diagnosis are not able to do so.
My fingers are crossed too for the chemo and radiation treatment that your dad started and I so hope that goes well for him. Please let us know as well how that goes for him and know you are not alone in this, we are here for you and we care.
My best wishes to you and your dad,
Gavin
June 10, 2015 at 8:34 pm #88574kvollandSpectatorDear ibnaggy
Welcome to the best little family that no one every wants to be a part of. You find that we are all good support and that we will try to answer questions that you have.
It is good that your dad was able to have surgery, even with the positive margins. Surgery is really the best thing. Having chemo and radiation are great ways to make sure that those positive margins don’t mean a thing.
Keep us posted.KrisV
June 10, 2015 at 5:52 pm #88573lainySpectatorDear IBNagy, welcome to the best place to be for CC support but sorry you had to find us. May I ask where your Dad is being treated? I am wishing for the treatment plan to take care of what the surgery could not cover. We try to be realistically optimistic and hope for the best. Please keep us advised of Dad’s progress. Here is a sight that I hope can be helpful to you:

Today he started chemo and radiation treatment.
I am glad to have found a place that is full of information and support.
