Dad met with Dr. Michael House at IU Med Center this morning. The plan is to do a pre-op laparoscopic exam and if all is as expected then proceed immediately with an open surgery to remove the left half of his liver, left bile duct, gall bladder and lymph nodes. If all goes well, then he will eventually get some chemotherapy as well after he recovers from the surgery.
The surgeon said there is good reason to feel optimistic and he has a good feeling that Dad will come out of it OK given the information he has now.
Dad is 75, reasonably good health and the tumor is supposedly less than 2 cm in the left channel of the bile duct.
Any thoughts? Does that sound like a reasonable plan to the people that have gone through it?
Thanks
Bob
