Hi: I was recently diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. It is not located near the bile ducts, however, but has invaded 2 of the 3 hepatic veins and is wrapping around my vena cava. 55 days ago I had a gallbladder attack and the tumor was found during ultrasound. Since then I have changed surgeons. My first surgeon didn’t answer questions and wanted to operate. He gave me a 60% success rate. BTW, I am a 47 year old female. I didn’t like the odds. I am now with Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC and am about to have the Liver Infusion Pump implanted. I am just starting to read these boards. I hope I chose correctly with this treatment. The hope is to shrink the tumor enough (it is currently 5+ cm) to become operable or for another treatment option to become available.
I have very recently started showing symptoms, but am confident that this was caught in time for me to beat this.
