    Thanks everyone,

I will download and print out the form and take it to Lauren’s next Dr. visit. Too bad she won’t be seeing her oncologist until the end of May because she is scheduled for her Therasphere procedure May 16 and won’t have chemo again until May 30. she probably would like to have it after the Theraspheres because I think it makes you feel pretty crappy. Take care all of you sweet ladies!

    Love, -Pam

I would do it Pam. My sister has one due to her vision and it is so helpful. She keeps telling me to get one because sometimes I’m just can’t walk too far. Its very easy to get one.

Pam: All Lauren has to do is to go to the online DMV site and download the form. Her doctor has to fill it out and sign it. Then take it down to your local DMV (Or mail it) and she should have her ‘handicapped’ placard within a few weeks if not immediately!

And you do ‘not’ have to be disabled per say, just have a condition that makes it hard for you to walk. Tom got his before he was diagnosed with CC and got his placard because of neuropathy in his legs.

    Hope this helps,
    Margaret

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly both of you. Yes, she is on disability, Kris.

My mom had one. Her doctor filled out a form and we took it to the DMV. They issued us a hard plastic card we placed in the windshield of whichever car we went out in. Hope this helps.

    Pam:
Is she on disability? It’s probably easier to get one if she is. I don’t really know how to go about getting one, but I’m thinking about it for myself. Sometimes my feet burn a little too much to want to walk. It would really be helpful.
I think you have to contact the disability office to get one. Probably need the doctor to fill out part of the form. Maybe you can download it online?
I think since she’s a cancer patient you won’t have any trouble getting a hanging placard.

I don’t know the US system, Pamela, but my sister has one. (It’s called a Blue Badge over here).

Does anyone on here have a handicapped or what I would rather call it, a disability placard or sticker for their vehicle? I was wondering if I should get one for Lauren. 98% of the time, she is fine and can walk wherever we go. But, there have been a few times when she can’t walk because she is in too much pain or just too tired. We would only use it for those times. I know some people abuse the system, and I would never dream of doing that. Just wondered if she is entitled to it or not.
