Thanks so much for the responses! I will pass on the information. Right now Dad is at the hospital, got IV fluids and Pepcid, but not Protonix which worked before with the dysphagia. I told my sis to insist on a dose of Protonix b/4 trying anything else. Dad (and sis) are in Mobile, AL, and I am in TX. Wish I could be there with him all the time, this is making me so angry. Who ever heard of such a ridiculous disease? His doctors are not aggressively treating the dysphagia, or even treating it at all. Any ideas for oncologists in the Mobile AL area?
    Thanks again.

Kamnbelle….;What you are describing is not an uncommon side effect of this disease.

Hi Kamnbelle. CC causes a lot of disturbance with the digestive tract. I know you said the ONC’s are stumped but has he seen a Gastro man? Perhaps the meds for nausea would help this or maybe he just needs something like Prevacid. It is good news that Cancer is not present and that the other tumors are stable.

My dad was diagnosed with CUP suspected CC in January. He is undergoing chemo; so far, the tumors are stable.

Does anyone have advice for combatting dysphagia and trouble keeping food down? Dad is NOT nauseated (thankfully); he doesn’t “vomit”, he just sometimes have to spit the undigested food out. It as if the food doesn’t even make it to his stomach. He has had two endoscopies in the last six months, no signs of tumor, stricture, or cancer.

He has lost 12 lbs., and is weak. This is a major quality of life issue, but all the doctors are stumped.

    Any help appreciated.
