    Hi there,

My dad also got an infection when he was in the hospital and this was treated with anti-biotics. I think it took about 5-6 days or so for it to pass. Hopefully the antibiotics will work for your mum and this can be cleared up asap.

Best wishes to you and your mum,

    Gavin

I too have had many different infections and am still here to talk about it :) Are they doing blood cultures too see what the bacteria is sensitive too? When I get an infection, that is what my docs do. I’ve also had ascites (fluid) in my abdomen and they used lasix which was a tremendous help. I’m not aware of side effects – I had none. Hope your Mom is feeling better soon.

I’ve had a ‘gaggle’ of such infections over the last year and though they are serious, they are very treatable with a variety of antibiotics. Even had one nasty little e-coli mutate in the middle of a treatment protocol, got sick all over again and had to come up with another treatment. Mom will be fine…

    Grace and Mercy to you…

Teddy had an e-coli infection and it took a good week for him. They ahd him on Levaquin (sp). Hope Mom gets better very quickly.

My mom’s bilirubin was 137 today am really really happy that it is going down…

BUT am sad cause she has e-coli bacteria infection in the blood and is on antibiotics…how serious is this infection? anyone know? is it treatable? how long does it take to go away?

Oh and she is really swollen today, they gave her diuretics cause from the ultrasound they saw a bit of fluid but not enough to drain…do the diuretics work? i hope so…are they bad for you?

They did a test and it is not blood clots causing the swelling so don’t know what it could be?

Why do I feel that we fix one thing and ruin another…these are all things that are not allowing her to get chemo and she needs it ASAP!!
    THank you!
