    Hi Hopefulln,

Can I also add my welcome to the one you have already received from Lainy and Gerry.

You really have come to the BEST place for support, advice, help and if necessary just to vent frustrations.

I am hoping your father gets a second opinion, a lot of members on here have had second and third opinions.

Wishing you strength on this roller coaster journey through cc.

I’m sorry to hear about your Dad and I’ll keep him in my thoughts. I’m really pleased you found this site – the members here are care-givers and Cholangiocarcinoma (CC) patients. We will provide you with valuable information/assistance to help you and your Dad. CC is a rare disease and health professionals need to have experience of the disease in order to provide effective treatment. You indicated that your Dad’s treatment has been disappointing so far. Perhaps you would provide more information (ie what hospital/health professionals are looking after him) as other members may have experience of the same carcer care centres and they will give their opinions/advice etc – I’m Irish and can’t help you in this regard.

Take care and keep in touch…

    Gerry

Dearest Hopeful, Welcome to our wonderful Family. The first thought that comes to my mind is, did you get a second opinion? Also you have one of the best Cancer Hospitals in Houston, MD Anderson. Remember that no one is born with an expiration date stamped on the bottom of their feet. Because your dad is doing good I really would want that second opinion so that you know for sure if nothing can be done. I just realized you must have seen other doctors and I don’t understand why he is not getting help. What was their diagnosis as to where the CC is and why are they not able to help him? Did you see doctors who treat this disease? Yes, we have to really learn what tough is, don’t we? Please let us know how dad is doing, we are here for you.

My father is my hero. He is a decorated Army Veteran and always been the tough guy in difficult situations. It’s my turn to be the tough one! This has been very difficult on his wife, my sister and myself. Many doctors, surgeons and even cancer treatment centers are not interested in helping him. Most treat him as though he is already gone. It is quite heartbreaking. In February when he was diagnosed he was also given 2 months to live. It is July now and I cannot say he has gotten any better, however he has not gotten any worse!! A prayer group was started on his behalf on facebook. Join us and share your story so we may add you and your family to our prayers as well!!
