How the the National Cancer Institute is making it easier for you to find an appropriate clinical trial:
This new initiative is to empower patients. Clinical trials are crucial not only to the individual , but for furthering research as well.
In order to conduct these important research studies three components have to come together
1. YOU, THE PATIENT
2. the compound (drug)
3. the clinical investigatorClinical trials results should be posted on the clinicaltrials.gov website. Unfortunately, this requirement has not been enforced by the NIH/NCI.
This is about to change.
“When people participate in clinical trials, they are volunteering to create generalizable knowledge to help others in the future and we want their participation honored by ensuring that the existence of trials and their results are available to all patients and their healthcare providers, as well as researchers,” said FDA Commissioner Robert M. Califf, M.D. “The FDA will help ensure compliance with these new requirements so that patients and providers can have confidence in and access to significantly more clinical trial information, and researchers can improve clinical trial focus and design.”Please read more:
