Everyone,
Thank you so much. Mira is a precocious kid – I’ve seen her grow up from the very day she was born. There is money with her to help out families of those diagnosed with CC.
Marion, please do call me. Unfortunately, as I am quite busy during weekdays with lectures, meetings, etc. there might not be enough time slots during the day for discussing with you. Weekends are fine too.
Also I haven’t heard back from Amanda yet. I hope that it’s because she might have obtained other means of travel.

I am so sorry to hear about your father’s diagnosis.
My good friend passed away this January after a 2 year struggle from CC. His 11 year daughter Mira Bhandari has set up a website (not complete yet) where she has raised money for this sort of thing: engineers4cancer.org. There have been some donations made, and I think that there should be enough money for travel. She could help you with financial help for family travel. You can contact me and I’ll help you get in touch with Mira. I sent an email to you with my tel #s.

While I do have a few good resources for traveling for medical reasons, I really don’t think I can help with the other.

I think its quite clear what is needed and that it is a family reunion because of a sick grandfather.
I see money being raised for all kind of scenarios,sometimes it’s a case of who you know or are connected to ,it can be rather random really …but I wish them luck in reconnecting

mannaribbit…..The lack of financial assistance for patients with Cholangiocarcinoma presents a pet peeve for this foundation. We, myself included, have contacted numerous organizations, researched and pleaded to offer financial help for those in need. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we are a “rare” cancer, all organizations have denied our request to include our patients too. However, some of these links might be of use to you:

MarionAmerican Cancer Society might help with your dad traveling. I don’t know about you and your family. There is something called Angel Wings I think. Again, with you not being the patient I don know. You should google financial assistance for families of cancer patients in your area. There are some that might help.
He can get help, through all kinds of places. There are many groups that offer some sort of assistance yo cancer patients from rides to treatment, paying a bill, sending gift cards, lawn care, etc…
