    Hi Gdmncsis,

Being able to have liver resection surgery is very good news for this cancer, but as you know, the operation is big and complex and recovering has its moments.  I hope other than the drain concern, your brother’s recovery is going well.

My recollection of drain removal was that I was told there might be some leakage in the first few days.  How long since surgery and since the drain was removed?  Is his recovery otherwise uneventful?

I hope you have found your way to all the resources of the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation website.  The discussion board has a good search engine – any questions you or your brother may have can be searched and hopefully you will find posts by patients and caregivers that shed light on any concerns that arise.

    Regards, Mary

My brother had a 60% liver resection and after his drain was removed he has had fluid leakage at incision site. The surgeon is not overly concerned and says leaking should subside but my brother is discouraged as movement causes leaking. Anyone have similar experience?
