My darling CC family,
My mom is currently about to start her third cycle of gem/cis for metastatic CC, and I happened to be in Seattle today (she lives in Vancouver, Canada) and ended up volunteering at the Fred Hutch Gala tonight. I was one of the folks selling raffle tickets ($100 each) and gosh, I really had to step outside my comfort zone to get the job done because I’m a shy introvert…..But my goodness, it was so worth it…I did all sorts of things to sell my tickets, some of which made me look like a fool at times, but I didn’t care. It was so worth it. And if people didn’t want to purchase the tickets initially, I would tell them I would talk to them again after they had had a few more drinks;)……and my strategy worked!!!….I can only hope they allocate a good chunk of the money raised to hepatobiliary cancer research. I hope…
Reason I’m sharing this experience with you is to encourage all the introverts to get out there and raise money whenever you have the opportunity to do so. I teared up a few times tonight but luckily, was wearing water proof make up so I managed to avoid the raccoon look….this is such an emotional journey for all of us but we can’t lose hope……please know that I love you all…you are all my family, and we are all in this fight together………I believe in you, in us;)
Love always,
Fay
