I love hearing about your success story!! If you don’t mind me asking – who was the surgeon at Sloan so we can recomend him to others in the NY/CT areas???
Thanks for sharing the news!
ashleyHello Ashley,
Ron’s surgeon was Dr. William Jarnagin, he was wonderful and I would highly recommend him. He was very honest and straightforward but still kept a very compassionate bedside manner about him. We live in Virginia and traveled to New York.

February 25, 2010 at 9:52 pm #35957gailMemberHi Nancy,
I just recently “joined” and gather such stength from everyones input and from success stories like yours. I’m glad you jumped back on to update the group. My husband, Bill, is 63, but we have 9 year old twins. The thought of them losing their otherwise, over the top, healthy father while so young made it difficult for me to breath at times. The feeling of dread that engulfed me for the past 9 months has lifted since his apparently very successful surgery last week. I pray that like you, I’m on here a few years from now, still giving others hope with his success stories.
Thank you again for sharing.

ashleyFebruary 24, 2010 at 10:19 pm #35955marionsModeratorNancy…I would like to echo everyone else. Thank you also for mentioning the importance of gathering more than one opinion. We cannot emphasize it enough. I wish for continued success coming your way. Peter and Jeff truly were amazing and have left a big void in our hearts and on this site. But, I know that they would want us to continue. Their love and wisdom will guide us, forever.
It is always wonderful to hear from you.
Best wishes,

What a great story, so so pleased for you all! Just goes to show you shouldn’t always listen to the numbers and the naysayers.February 24, 2010 at 9:48 pm #35952ajcarman72SpectatorYay! I love reading good news!
February 24, 2010 at 8:55 pm #35951gavinModeratorHi Nancy,
Thanks for sharing this good news, it is always so good to hear such news! And what a great example of why it is so worth while to get 2nd, 3rd and more opinions from other doctors.
I hope the good news continues for you and your husband.

February 24, 2010 at 4:21 pm #35950lainySpectatorGreat news Nancy we are elated!! Nothing makes us happier than success stories! Excellent! And you are so right about getting more opinions. Yes, we miss Jeff and Peter also. Just talking about that last night. Congratulations and enjoy reveling in your good fantastic reports.
February 24, 2010 at 3:57 pm #3230nancypkeenSpectatorAs I have mentioned several times, I don’t post often but read all of your posts on a weekly basis and have done so over the last several years. The people on this website are in my thoughts and prayers. My husband had a successful resection in August, 2007 and continues to be cancer free. We were beaming yesterday when we left the doctor’s office with the news of a clean PET scan and a CA-199 of 12.
Three major hopsitals told him there was nothing they could do and he had six months to live. The fourth hospital, Sloan Kettering, was willing to take a chance and we feel so very blessed. As so many other people posts, please get second and third opinions and be willing to try the lastest options for long term survival.
I really miss reading Peter and Jeff’s posts with all their wisdom. Hugs go out to their family and I hope they are having brighter days.
Nancy
