I was very anxious to get these results today, but they turned out to be good results! No Ascities present. Liver function bloodwork is good. There is no evidence of the main tumor in the bile duct (Klatskin). The area where I had peritoneal mets is a little more confusing, but it is shrinking in size and is less definitive. The radiologist cannot say whether it is inflammation, scar tissue, or malaginant. I guess my thinking is that even if it IS malignant, it is at least shrinking substantially.
Best part of the news is that there has been no spread/no new mets, and I feel great. I am regaining my energy and strength and am starting to put my weight back on as well.
Now back to reality – we are fairly certain that there is still cancer present and I am sticking with my chemo regiment. I know this is still going to be a war. But it feels like I have won at least this battle. And I am making progress.
What happens next? Who knows. It’s been 6 months of stable and shrinking disease. There may even be no evidence of disease of the peritoneal area turns out to be inflammation or scar tissue. But if the last 6 months have taught me anything, it is that improvement is possible and that it is worth fighting.
Thank you all for the support and well wishes. Lets all work at beating this cancer together.
