Wow oh wow…….fantastic!!! There are just no words to really express how happy this makes me today ….to hear such a great result from the pathology and the word, “benign”. It’s a word we all wish we could hear, but cheers us all when we hear it for others. Live your lives and give thanks.

May 27, 2015 at 3:30 am #88274marionsModeratorLouie….incredible, wonderful news. I wish for a quick and speedy recovery and for the word “cholangiocarcinoma” to never appear in your life again. Since inception of this discussion board in 2006, your husband good fortune is one of two similar reports ultimately disproving clinical suspicion of this disease. I assume that the other smaller lesions through his bile ducts are in included in the resected portion of the liver.
Life is good. Enjoy.

May 26, 2015 at 3:31 pm #11296louie140SpectatorBAck in January I posted re: my husband having a bile duct stricture and they were certain it was a Klatskins tumor. We went through all of the procedures for him to have a right lobe liver resection, removal of all his bile ducts and removal of his gallbladder. They completed his surgery on April 29th and also conducted a Roux-n-Y procedure. The surgery took 7 hours and he was in the hospital for 5 days. His recovery was going going well at home and then on his 7th day he became very chilled and almost convulsive so we had to have an ambulance take him to the hospital. He had a fever of 102.5 and found out that he had fluids built up and a blood infection. After removing 1.5 liters of fluid and 1 week in ICU on very strong antibiotics he was released. They found a leak and placed a drainage bag to catch the fluids and has to be on IV antibiotics for at least 4 weeks (or at least one week after the drain/bag is removed). Good news.
.
………THE TUMOR CAME BACK AS BENIGN!!!!!!!!!We are all so releived. The tumor he had was a sort of tumor that would eventually turn malignant, however they got it out early enough. We were told that his surgery wouldn’t have changed at all. Because of the location of the tumor they would still have had to remove the liver lobe, bile ducts and gall bladder. He has lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks, but the great news is that after he heals from this there will be no further treatments needed!!!!!!!!! Got really does answer prayers.
