Candy, I’m glad to hear that your brother is doing well. I think we are having the same surgery, too. I’m getting anxious about the surgery, so it’s so good to hear YOUR good news.

I’m going in on March 18th.

    Lisa,
good luck with your surgery…passing on some good news, my brother just had his surgery Tuesday and I think it’s the exact same surgery you’re going to have. He’s doing beautifully, came through it very well and is now getting bored in the hospital. Was up next day and didn’t really have much pain. Could have been the heavy drugs, too, though (ask for Dilaudid). Probably will be sent home in another day or so.
So, hoping your surgery is just as trouble-free and you’re on the road to healthy days!

    Lisa,
How great for you. I didn’t even know they could usse intestine for replacement of bile duct. I will be praying for you in the upcoming days that all goes well and God will be with you as you recover from this cancer. Mary Anne

    Lisa,

Good luck with your surgery. My dad just had surgery on Tues. Had his bile duct removed, his gallbladder and they reconstructed using part of his intestines. Slight fever the first few days (which is normal after surgery) But today something clicked and he had no fever and was walking, with help. They removed all of the cancer so think positive that you will have a similar experience. Good luck!

great news Lisa…I’m sending prayers for a speedy recovery! I have great news as well, my brother has been cleared for surgery also, for next Tuesday. We’re really liking the new doctor at University Hospital. He and his staff and associates have been so on top of things. Done a number of tests all in the interest of making sure he’s in good shape for surgery and now he’s good to go. I’m sure he’s very nervous about it, but it’s the beginning of a new, more hopeful time!

    Hey Lisa:

What absolutely wonderful news. I have been following your posts and am so very happy for you. My friend Ron had resection surgery back in August. He had done exactly what is planned for you. The first few days after surgery were difficult but he was up walking laps around the hospital on the third day. He had one complication after surgery. His bowel collapsed and as result had a blockage. This is pretty common following major surgery so after that was corrected he started healing very quickly. He had to end up being at Sloan Kettering for 10 days. He was working at home within 3 weeks and was back to work in 8 weeks traveling up and down the east coast. He just went for his 6 month follow-up and he is cancer free now. We are hoping and praying it stays that way. He did have follow up Gemzar just as an adjuvant measure. I know there is mixed opinions on how much good that does but he took the stand he would rather be safe than sorry. He tolerated it very well.

I will put you on my prayer list and look forward to reading your posts to see how things progress.

    Hugs,
    Nancy
