    Hi Suzanne,

I am very sorry to hear about your Dad. I used to check his blog daily to see if he had written and he hasn’t posted for a very long time. I prayed nothing was wrong, but suspected there was since he wasn’t writing. My heart goes out to him and the family. He has such a great sense of humor and his posts on here and his blog always made me laugh. I will pray for him to remain comfortable and pain free. God bless you, Captain, Grover, Jerry, friend.

    Love and hugs,
    -Pam

Hi Suzanne, I hope your dad gets home this week. There is still plenty that can be done to make him as comfortable as possible. Please come back for any support and advice you want and to let us know how your dad and you are.

Suzanne….Not too often do we see drainige tubes used for ascities (risk of infection) but personally, I believe the benefit by far outweigh the risk.
Thank you for keeping us posted – we are in this together
Thinking of you and sending a tidal wave of love your way.
    Hugs,

Suzanne, sorry about your family news, I wish it was better for you and your family. I never physically met your dad, but he shared his life so easily he seems like and old family friend. He gave and still does give people inspiration and HOPE. Just have to ask does he have have his chemo/pray pants on!!!??
Lots of prayers for peace, comfort, and laughter during this time-Cathy

    Suzanne,
Thank you for the update. I’m so sorry it isn’t better news. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I agree with Lainy: hospice can help him be comfortable when you get him home.

Dear Suzanne, thank you for the update, wish it could have been better news. I am so sorry that he is suffering like that. Has the ONC mentioned Hospice yet? Hospice does not mean the end but they are really terriffic in making the patient stay comfortable, which is the bottom line. If you want to email about Hospice or anything else, please feel free to get hold of me. Your Dad’s strength and spirit remind me of Teddy. Hope all goes well today!

I know it’s been a long time since either my dad “Grover” or myself have been on the site but I wanted to let you all know what is going on.

If you didn’t know my dad’s cancer came back last year after his resection. So in December he started Chemo again. On March 15th he had chemo, on March 16th he fell (sat too hard) and fractured a vertebra. On March 17th he turned 66.

March 19th his hemoglobin was down to 6.9, he declined a transfusion. March 26th it was still in the 6’s so he had a transfusion on March 27 which go it back up to 8 something. March 28th, my mom, dad, brother and my family (husband and 2 kids, 8 & 4) rented a cabin for a couple of days of spring break. March 30th my brother went home, followed by me mom and dad – mom wanted to attend church on Easter Sunday.

Thank the good Lord they were home, @ approx. 4am mom woke up to a mess in the bathroom. Dad had a horrible case of diarrhea. As she started to clean up he came back in, sat down and then threw up blood. She called 911 and they got him to the hospital. His hemoglobin’s were down to 4.

Today, April 9th – Dad is still in the hospital and his liver is failing. There is nothing more they can do but to ease any pain (from his back). They are inserting a “drain tube” to drain the fluid that is building up on and around his stomach today. We are hoping to get him home sometime this week.

He is in good spirits. He is laughing and joking – just like dad.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. Our prayers go out to all those who suffer from this and their families. Cholangiocarcinoma sucks!

    Suzanne
