OK, Thanksgiving, my very favorite Holiday! I love the aromas, the colors, the decorations that start to go up. Yes, I really have made my menu and there will be 11 of us.
Gavin…Thanksgiving is Nov. 25th this year. There will be Turkey, Gravy, Stuffing, Sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry relish and sauce, rolls, Pumpkin and Chocolate Pies and I always make 1 more entree like sweet sour meatballs (big ones). Last year I made a Salmon and I called it Surf & Turk! This year I discovered my second entree tonight! Daughter called and we were talking about what to make for dinner tonight. She said I should make Teddy Salisbury steak. I have never made it before. She gave me a very easy recipe and man he ate the whole thing and I said , “eureka” I have my second dish and it can be frozen ahead of time! I am happy!

Lainy: So glad to hear that T got a shower! Our neighbor just brought a shower chair over to Tom to use since he is getting weaker and is afraid of falling in the shower. Now he does not have to wait for me to help him and watch over him while he showers!

I generally do the big Thanksgiving meal at our house, but this year we are going to Tom’s daughters house, so lucky me, I only have to make 2 Banana Cream pies! I think I’ll be lost cause I’ve made Thanksgiving Dinner for the past 30 years or so! But it will also be great to just enjoy the meal with none of the work!

I’m glad to hear that T is enjoying his new ‘bedroom’ and using his walker! We don’t need him falling on us!

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

    Hugs,
    Margaret

    Hello Lainy!

I am so glad to hear that Teddy is enjoying his new bedroom and also that his pain is being better controlled than a few days ago. And also glad to hear that he loved his shower! My dad also loved being able to take a shower when he could and he siad that he found it very relaxing and also refreshing.

Is thanksgiving this Thursday? Turkey, trimmings and all that goes with it, sounds good to me!!! Enjoy it!!!!

    Hugs to you and T,

    Gavin

Lainy, it is good to hear that Teddy is still able to enjoy the little pleasures in life. My brother has just had an operation and couldn’t shower for two weeks….he said it felt SO good when he finally could !
Do you go for the whole turkey and pumpkin pie extravaganza ?
I really hope that you and Teddy (and your friends/family) get to give thanks for all the time you have together.
    best wishes

Teddy has settled in to his new “bedroom” in the living room and just loves it. He really does. The Hospice Nurse came today and his Blood Pressure was 97/50 so he said he was too relaxed. Pain is better controlled than it was a couple of days ago. He is taking 100mg Morphine with break through Morphine of 30mg when needed. Then the Shower gal came and he took a nice long, hot shower. Last Sunday morning our neighbor cut his hair as she used to do that for a living. He is starting to shake a little but it is the Morphine I think. His little rooster legs are getting weak so he is using the walker like a good boy.
Our goal now is Thanksgiving when our friends, who are really family, come in for their 15th Thanksgiving with us. He said today that he thinks about Thanksgiving and I said well, you are not going anywhere as I already planned the menu! Stay tuned……………
