Willow…chemotherapy resistance and chemotherapy sensitivity testing is done frequently. It won’t hurt to have it done however; we only have a few agents to work with.
Hugs

November 28, 2012 at 1:54 am #66980lainySpectatorWillow, because CC is rare and we still know so little, I would stick with the Hospitals and Doctors who have dealt with CC. And, yes, this is a for profit business. Not sure but I don’t think Insurance covers the Natural Pathic stuff and I am sure if they are doing a little chemo one would be steered toward the Natural stuff as well. Don’t get me wrong, they have been around while here and I have not heard anything horrendous …..excuse me…I just read some reviews …..yikes!
November 27, 2012 at 11:13 pm #66979willowSpectatorSounded to me like They do chemo, but in smaller, more frequent doses and after testing the tumor for susceptibility to chemo agents.
Also sounded like a for-profit business. who has that kind of money… even those with insurance face catastrophic out of pocket expenses. I’m with you in sticking to tried and true, but thought I had heard somewhere on this blog of other patients getting their tumors tested at a special lab to see what chemo works on the cells in the lab setting.
Do you know if this is becoming more common and if it’s covered by insurance? (targeted chemo choice rather than “stab in the dark” approach?
November 27, 2012 at 11:04 pm #66978lainySpectatorGosh, Willow, I thought this sounded familiar. My daughter’s boyfriend, some time ago, went to them after he was DX with Lymphoma. I believe they are a Naturo-Pathic group and highly expensive. Instead he went to a Naturo Path person who had worked for them. He spent 50,000 on treatments and the Lymphoma went into remission only after he had chemo but it has returned. So, I don’t know. I think that even a first visit is costly. But, then again things may have changed as this was about 7 years ago. Never heard that they had chemo. I don’t know. I would never do something like this without consulting the ONC. It sounds a little fishy to me.
