Hi Tony,
Welcome to the site. At 35, I know what you mean when you say you are too young! Youth is on your side, just remember.I hadnt had to try any regimes yet, so I offer no advice just a big welcome and warm wishes. I hope your scan offers the doctors some insight so a plan of attack that you are comfortable with forms.
Best of luck.
KrisJanuary 7, 2009 at 4:47 pm #25371darlaSpectatorHi Tony,
No useful information, but I do want to give you my best wishes. I will say a prayer & hope that the scan goes well. I also do not want to tell you what to do as these are your decisions to make, however, my husband was 62 when he lost his battle with this terrible, unpredictable cancer & I thought that was too young, in your case, you do need to fight as you are truely too young not to.
Good Luck
DarlaJanuary 7, 2009 at 3:09 pm #25370suzannegmMemberHi Tony – I am currently on gemzar and cisplatin. No horrible side effects to speak of, other than severe fatigue and my appetite is not so great. The day of treatment, I am given 3 different types of anti-nausea meds, one of which is Emend. I’m not sure of the other 2. At home for nausea on the first 3 days I take a combination of ABH, Zofran, and compazine. I also drink 50-60 ounces of water each day for 2 days after my chemo treatment. The kidneys have a lot of work to do.
I am 43 years old. I have good liver function despite the fact that my entire left lobe is greatly enlarged due to my “tumor burden”. And I have 1 small tumor on my right lobe. So far the chemotherapy has not shrunk any tumors, but neither have they spread. I don’t have any lymph node involvement.
Not to tell you what to do, but you’re so young and seem to be in really good shape. I think you could handle chemo. I hope I have given you some useful information. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.January 7, 2009 at 1:25 pm #25369lisaSpectatorHi Tony,
Keep up the fighting spirit! I will pray for good news on the scan. I think that chemo does work for some people, in combination with radiation, and you may be one of those people. The only thing we know for sure about this disease is that no one knows for sure what course it will take.January 7, 2009 at 7:40 am #25368marionsModeratorConsider it done, Tony. Good luck.

January 7, 2009 at 2:52 am #25366lainySpectatorHi Tony and welcome again. You have a great attitude and that will get you to where you want to be! Not sure about the chemo being more disastrous than the CC but you really would help yourself by doing the Natural stuff along with the chemo and it may help you get through the chemo less unscathed. You defied the odds once and you will do it again! Keep us posted!
January 7, 2009 at 2:43 am #25365marionsModeratorDear Tony…you already have made friends by becoming a member of the site. You are mentioning Gemzar- Cisplating. What type of radiation is part of the treatment? To choose a therapy (one over the other) is never an easy decision to make however, I believe for informed decisions to be the right decisions. I am confident that you will choose the right path. Congratulations far succeeding the 8 months predicted by your physician. Until others have a chance to respond you might want to use the “Search Function”. There is a wealth of information hidden in previous posings which you will be able to read up on. Keep up the good attitude. Happy New Year to you, also.
Hugs
MarionJanuary 7, 2009 at 1:04 am #1880tpapi76MemberHi all…just wanted to give ya’ll an update on my situation and hopefully make some friends on this site…I was diagnosed May ’07, had an unsuccessful surgery July ’07…started a clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville,FL which kept the CC stable until last month…apparently the Avastin and Tarceva combo stopped working so I am now beginning my journey all over again but this time at the M D Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, FL. My new oncologist is hoping that the tumor board will ok radiation…then he will begin a combo chemo treatment that I guess has shown some results in at least shrinking the tumor…Gemzar & Cisplatin…I’d love some experience, strength & hope from ya’ll if you have had a similar experience as mine…I feel great, my body is still functioning perfectly…the CC did metas to near by lymnodes but no where else. I have heard that most people die from chemo and not from the CC so of course this has me like AH!!!! Should I go with chemo…or should I do the herbal thing…or just let it run its course…I AM NOT READY TO GIVE UP I AM ONLY 32 YEARS YOUNG….JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I CHOOSE THE CORRECT PATH…help. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR ’09 is gonna bring us a cure damn it hahahahaha. Tony
P.S. They originally gave me 8 months…that was 21 months ago woohoo and HA HA cancer!!! You aint gonna get me! hahahaha GOD BLESS!!!! -
