Dear Aiste, most Cholangiocarcinoma patients are not definitively diagnosed until after surgery, usually the tumor should not be disturbed until removal. Your father sounds like a very special man, and his condition is operable, which is huge. I wish you and your father the best possible results, god bless, Pat

I’ve decided to register here and share my story. I live in Lithuania and have read some of the stories here. Last week my 75 year old, always healthy dad got jaundice and we decided to take him to the hospital as soon as possible. Turned out, his suspected diagnosis is cholangiocarcinoma…It is the biggest shock for us all, he has never been ill, he is a very caring and great person, we love him dearly…

I still have some hope it might be something different but my sister who is a doctor says diagnosis is cholangiocarcinoma. The good news is the tumor is 2 cm and can be removed by operation. On Monday my dad will be put on operation. We do not have any histological tests yet as I suspect only these can make us certain about the diagnosis but there is not much hope it is something different. The doctor suspects rather good outcome in his case and only this thought makes me feel a bit better.

we will know more after his operation on Monday. I’m in despair and at a loss, tomorrow I’ll see my dad in the hospital again. I hope for the best in this frightening situation.

    Aiste
