Hi my name is Michael (62 yrs old), and I’m here posting this with my son Gavin. I was diagnosed with intraheptic bile duct cancer after suffering two strokes on Jan 3rd and Feb 11th of this year. The doctors investigated the source of the blood clots that caused the strokes and after a biopsy discovered the cancer. After consulting with a specialist from Yale/New Haven (Dr. Ron Salem) I was told I was not a good candidate for resection until the tumor had shrunk.

I began chemotherapy in March (Cisplatin & Gemzar) and had two cycles totaling six weeks. At the conclusion of the chemo it was determined that the tumor had actually grown by 50% and my oncologist informed me I was now at stage 3a. We then explored radioembolization (Y90) and I had the procedure on July 6th at Yale/New Haven. In addition, we’re exploring molecular testing and should have the results of that soon.

Lastly, I’ve been on blood thinners (enoxparin) to keep the clots from developing again but unfortunately because I was off the blood thinners for the radioembolization and I suffered another stroke on July 11th.

My family and I are very excited to have found this community and have been so impressed by all the information and support on the site. Thank you all in advance.
