Anelko…..the stent will allow for biliary drainage and you are correct, your Dad should feel significantly better.
The next steps are as mentioned by you, pathology result of the collected tissue followed by a consult with an oncologist.
Please keep us informed, we care and we are in this together.
Hugs
MarionJuly 7, 2017 at 10:09 am #95223anelkoSpectatorHi again,
thank you all for your support.
Finally last Tuesday my dad left the hospital and he is at home. He has been implanted a prothesis into bile duct, and for the moment seem to work well.
In some days he had an appointment to know about liver biopsy results, and later I suppose he will have an appointment with oncologist.
About be treated by a medical center with many patients in this disease, I think it is not so easy in Spain, we have a good public sanity, and let see what is the concrete diagnostic in some days and proposed treatment.
Thanks again.

I am sorry your father has been diagnosed, but glad that you have found us. As you know, Cholangiocarcinoma is a very rare cancer. For that reason, it is very important that a patient be evaluated by a medical center that has treated many patients with the disease. Is your father’s Doctor part of such a team? If not, perhaps he can get a second opinion from an expert.
I hope the test results come back favorable. Please keep us updated. With your Mom battling another type of cancer, this must be so difficult for you and your family. My thoughts are with you all.

I’m very sorry that your father has been diagnosed with this disease. And so sorry your mother is fighting cancer too. My husband had surgery for colon cancer and chemo back in 1996. We are very fortunate that the treatments worked and it has not returned. I wish the same success for your mother.
Every case is different. My mother was diagnosed in Oct 2013 and they weren’t able to operate. Her prognosis was 1 year. We were lucky and with chemo and radiation, she has been able to be without treatments for over 2 years. Tomorrow she’s coming with us on a vacation for a week and we plan on doing lots of hiking ( very easy and flat trails). So, this cancer is bad news, but not hopeless.
Best wishes to you and your family.

He has had a biopsy, but until next week we will not know the results. However, doctor said that in scanner it seems to be spreaded to the liver.
I suppose each case is different, and I have read a lot of things in last days and if it is non resecable, I know it means very bad news. But I have read so many thing about “prognosis” that I don´t know which is more accurated.
Thanks.

I suppose your Dad will have a biopsy, whether the cancer has spread to his liver, which not always is the case with this cancer. In the meantime he should have a much better level of comfort due to the inserted stentYou English is perfect and we are looking to engaging in many more discussions with you

MarionJune 29, 2017 at 3:17 pm #13491anelkoSpectatorHello all, I am from Spain and I am writing this to share my experience and ask for information and support too. Last week, my parent was diagnosed Cholangiocarcinoma. He is 75 years old and ten days ago he was very sick and we went to hospital. First diagnostic and symptons were that he had a gallbladder stone and next day he was to do some test to be sure.
After this, he was made an magnetic resonance and as they think it was a stone he made him a CPRE to extract it. Unfortunately, after that Dr said it was not a stone and they were to do a TAC.After TAC, you can imagine, bad diagnostic was confirmed and he told us that he has bile duct cancer, and they were to take test from his liver to see if it is altered too. We don´t know for the moment the results but he thinks because of TAC image that liver is afected too. Today they had deploy a bile stent inside him.
Well, really I have been reading a lot these days and the words of doctor were that was a very bad pronostic. My father doesn´t know for the moment (at least not all information), and my mother (who is with chemo because a colon cancer) knows about it but I suppose not enough to imagine that this different from her cancer.
Well, this is our history, sorry for my English, and I will share with you what happen and will ask you support in next future surely.
Thanks and regards to all.
