I wanted to share with you. My sister was 57 when diagnosed 2 years ago and she was not given any hope ether. She turned yellow, went to family dr and was sent to gastro. An elderly gastro doc said cancer as soon as he looked at her at the time we were devestated and quit annoyed because he would not budge. He did a stent placement to relieve the Yellow color(bile buildup),and told us that it was the worst possible scenaro, not much hope a few months at best.We went to a surgeon who was much more gaurdedly hopeful. He said he would do a whipple and that her age and what appeared to be early diagnoses would be helpful but that this would be a fight. He was able in 9 hour surgery to remove the tumor and get clean edges in all areas but the liver. She did “just in case” radiation and chemo and now just this feb the cc is back in her liver, she just last friday started gem/cis chemo. I now believe that stubborn old doc may have saved her life.
Keep fighting for her and keep looking, they need to relieve that yellow color! Keep coming here , there are alot of helpfulm stories, ideas ,and people!

May 14, 2011 at 10:32 pm #47732teresaMemberMy dearest Kelly and family
I feel god wanted me to sign in tonight.
I like to think he only takes the best.I share with you your utter shock, at the loss of your mom in such a short time. I too lost lost my darling son Alan within 58 days of diagnosis.
Like your mom so very young, so fit, did not drink alcohol at all and had never smoked.I am now dedicated to making people in england aware if this dreadful cancer. FIVE years on from Alan and young people are still going so quick.
My heart breaks for you and yours as you start on this new journey.
It will be a hard journey and you will re-call in time all of the wonderful things your mom gave to you, a brave and couragous daughter. We all on this site will support you (as others did for me)
I would not have coped without the help of everyone on here.I come on here every night but often do not sign in.
Thinking and praying for you all love and light Alan’s mom

All the happy times you spent togetherWhen someone you love becomes a Memory, the Memory becomes a treasure.
May 14, 2011 at 10:04 pm #47730jim-wildeMemberKelly, I’m so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She’s now in a better place with no pain and suffering. And you can rest assured you did all you could possibly do to help. This horrible disease is so unpredictable. Some fight on for years, others only have weeks. It’s such a shame when a relatively young mother like yours is taken from us.
Think of the good memories of your mom … they will be with you always.
May 14, 2011 at 9:42 pm #47729kellyMemberI just wanted to thank you all for all of your information and support over the last few months. Mom lost her battle with cholangiocarcinoma this morning, 92 days after being diagnosed. She fought so hard and was so brave. She hung onto life until we were all in the room with her, and surrounded by my father and brother and myself, she took her last breath. She was 58 years old.
April 11, 2011 at 6:50 pm #47728gavinModeratorHi Kelly,
I so know what you are going through right now and how you are feeling, and you are most certainly not being dramatic. I was my dads carer when he had CC and at the same time I was my mums carer as well, she has COPD and has done so for about 8 years and I am still her carer. It is tough being a carer for one parent never mind for both at the same time. Let me say that you are doing everything possible that you can for your parents here so please do not think otherwise.
Are you able to take any time for yourself right now? Even if it is just a few minutes to have a chat with a friend as I know that this helped me and you do have to take care of yourself no matter what is happening. I know that sometimes it seems like you just don’t have the time, but please try to look after yourself as well. Do you have anyone else, brothers or sisters that can help you here? Being a carer is hard, and we know how you feel right now so please keep coming back here. We know and we care.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin
April 11, 2011 at 3:38 pm #47727kkliewerSpectatorIt is horrible to hear “No hope!” That is what they told me with my husband, and it was like the breath was taken from my chest. But, he went so quickly that we didn’t have time to get any other doctors involved! I have learned more from this website than any of his doctors. Definitely get her seen somewhere else and do’t give up until you are comfortable with the information! Prayers are with you!
April 11, 2011 at 1:04 pm #47726cherbourgSpectatorKelly,
You might want to look up http://www.unjury.com. They make wonderful medical grade protein powders. I got them for my mom and I use them as well. They have a wonderful website.
I’m glad you found us but am sorry you had to! I’m sending hugs and prayers to you and your family.
Hugs,
PamApril 11, 2011 at 5:01 am #47725slittle1127MemberKelly – You are doing so well trying to take care of both mom and dad. Please remember to take care of you too. This is such a difficult time and it is so hard to help your parents understand. Our thoughts are with you and we will be here when you have questions, need to vent or whatever. I am saying a prayer for your strength and an open path to talk with your parents. My heart goes out to you. Blessings, Susan
