September 1, 2013 at 9:11 pm #73411ladylindenSpectatorHi Josh, How have you and your Mom been doing? I am suppose to start Cis & Gem in a few weeks. Could you let me know if your Mom is tolerating the chemo and how she is feeling. Thank you.
July 8, 2013 at 1:18 pm #73410gavinModeratorHi Josh,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and I’m sorry also to hear about your mum. But I’m glad that you’ve joined us here as you’re in the best place for support and help and you can expect a lot of each from everyone here.
It sounds like you mum is tolerating her chemo well and that is good to know. We have a great chemo board here on the site and I am sure that it will be of interest to you. And from what you say re the shrinkage of her tumour it sounds like it is also working well. My fingers are crossed for that to continue and please let us know how your mum gets on. I hope that you keep coming back here as we are all here for you. We know what you are going through right now and we care.
My best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin

I would like to welcome you to this site, but I am really sorry to hear about your Mom. It sounds as though your Mom is doing well with the Gem/Cis. That is great!! The main thing is that you you have hope. That is one thing that can never be taken away from you or your Mom. I wish your Mom all the best in her fight against this disease. Bless you both.

-PamJuly 8, 2013 at 2:41 am #73407pcl1029MemberHi,
May I ask is your mom’s tumor is in the liver or outside the liver?
Is surgery possible? If not, why not?
Did your mom have an interventional radiologist consult to see what the radiologist can do for her?
How much the tumor shrunk and is it just one tumor or a few more.?
You should explore the above options–radiology if surgery is not possible.
The way that you mentioned about the shrinkage ( if>25% overall ) is good;otherwise it may just mean partial response or the tumor is stable .
The word you used “a littlebit” make me think your mom’s tumor is stable at best. If so ,2nd opinions on oncology and radiation at Emory hospital at Atlanta may not be a bad idea.
I am a patient of this disease for 49 months now, it is a winding road with twist and turns. No one knows the exact time we will depart, but with knowledge, and good medical consult by doctors who specialized in this disease, will be essential in helping your mom making future decisions.
God bless.July 8, 2013 at 1:42 am #73406lainySpectatorWelcome Josh Lee but sorry to hear about your Mom. We already have something in common as my Grandson is also a Josh. Can you give us a little more information? Like your Mom’s age and where she is being treated. We always give 2 pieces of advise to start with. #1 read up as much as you can about CC as knowledge is the most powerful tool we have #2 we are big believers in 2nd and 3rd opinions. If there is something you want to know about, beside asking us there is a search engine at the top of the page and just type in a word and many posts will appear on the subject. Suggestion: IF you can it would be helpful to go to Mom’s Oncology appointments with her as 4 ears listening are better than 2. Is there any other family around to help? Stay in touch with us and ask away, we will try to answer. You might want to tell Mom you are on this sight in case she has any questions. Please keep us posted as we truly care.
July 8, 2013 at 1:25 am #8581joshleeMemberHello everyone,
My name is Josh Lee. My mom was diagnosed with bile duct cancer around 3 months ago. She was told that she would have 3-6 months to live without chemo. She’s gone through 3-4 sessions of chemo so far and is doing better on the outside. Her tumor in her liver shrank a little bit so I am hoping that the chemo is doing her good. She is taking cisplatin and gemzar. I am really happy to have found this community to share and learn more about the disease and how to make my mom better. Thanks in advance for any advice and encouragement!-Josh Lee
