Thank you, Eli. I hadn’t realised that and I appreciate your post. It really shook me when I heard Iain’s diagnosis and I think it was, at least partly, due to the fact I thought they were essentially the same thing. I’ve been having flashbacks and dreams about Sue’s illness and they’ve intensified since Iain’s announcement.
I’m starting to settle down again now. Thank you.

April 6, 2013 at 1:44 am #70508lainySpectatorELI, THANKS SO MUCH, appreciate your post. Guess we are never too old to learn.
I apologize to everyone and Julia, we won’t forget that now. Thanks again Eli, and hope your wife is doing well!April 6, 2013 at 1:33 am #70507EliSpectatorHi Lainy and Julia,
Gallbladder cancer is not CC. It’s a different cancer.
Gallbladder cancer and CC are collectively known as biliary tract cancers. The symptoms are often the same: blocked bile ducts, jaundice, etc.
Gallbladder cancer is more common than CC. It is also more aggressive.
April 6, 2013 at 1:00 am #70506lainySpectatorGavin, I have not emailed youas mostly I don’t have the energy cause you know how we go on and on. But looks like Ineed to write you! Not sure about Payton.I found it weird that his family built a Cancer Center in his name but I don’t think they treat CC. Perhaps Percy knows. Julia, we can start a new group and call it, “Tell it like it is!”
April 5, 2013 at 7:38 pm #70505gavinModeratorSorry for my delay in replying to your post Lainy, mum has been poorly again and I’ve been away from here for a while. As I understand it, his cancer originated on the gall bladder and has spread from there into his liver and pancreas. He said that his bile duct is blocked hence his jaundice. I guess his primary cancer is gall bladder cancer which my dads docs thought that he originally had before diagnosing CC.
I wonder if at the time or after with Walter Payton they were talking about his CC etc?
Hugs,
Gavin
April 5, 2013 at 6:29 pm #70504lalupesSpectatorI agree, Lainy. I’m really confused. I always believed if the cancer originated in the bile ducts or gallbladder then it was cc. But no one has mentioned cc at all. I’m starting to doubt myself (mind you, I often do ). Have I got it wrong??
April 4, 2013 at 12:21 am #70503lainySpectatorOK, Julia and Gavin, I have a question. Just read an article on CNN NEWS and once again wondering why no one is calling Iain’s Cancer what it is, CC. Please correct me if I am wrong and it is sad, but I don’t understand when Celebs do this. Someone educate me please.
April 3, 2013 at 7:16 pm #70502gavinModeratorThanks for posting this Julia. It is very sad indeed and I saw the news earlier on the tv and was shocked when I heard about Iain. Thinking about Iain and his family right now.
April 3, 2013 at 2:50 pm #70501lainySpectatorDear Julia, so sorry to hear about Ian Banks. Like I always say Cancer seems to only “adhere” to the best. I am sure you both had to be honored meeting each other! Wishing for Mr. Banks a comfortable journey.
April 3, 2013 at 2:44 pm #70500marionsModeratorJulia…my heart goes out to Ian Banks and his family. May the preciousness of life allow for comfort and serenty for all.

MarionApril 3, 2013 at 2:25 pm #8184lalupesSpectatorI’m so sad to read today that Iain Banks, who also writes as Iain M. Banks, has been diagnosed with Advanced Gallbladder Cancer.

I visited him and his then wife, many years ago, and found him to be a really lovely man. I have spoken to a mutual friend, who is still in touch with him, and am sending him details of this wonderful family, in case he or his family wish to link to our supportive network.
Love to you all
