Okay…at this point, I cry over about anything….but since I tend to be more on the emotional side even if not facing some life changing disease (note…I did NOT say life-“threatning.”….trying to change my focus)….it isn’t hard to believe that I’d cry over something good too.
Hubby removed the Mepolix bandaging over the round port incision that had been infected and after the three day required time between dressings, the hole has now dried over and currently looks “good” in our opinion. The longer incision through which the section of liver and tumor were removed is about 1/3 to half the length, not a v-shaped opening instead of a wide and deeper U-shaped channel. We still put the silver impregnated bandaging dressing into the opening, but it is getting harder to do as it becomes…SMALLER. Yes…SMALLER. For the past 4 days, my abdomen hasn’t hurt for the first time since the surgery on Feb 28th. I can finally wear my slacks without changing the location of the waistband every 15 minutes or giving up in favor of a loose robe. We’re also taking digital pictures of the incisions daily and I’m behind in sending those to the wound nurse specialist. So, she may say it is time to put the Mepolix bandaging on the longer incision as well. FINALLY!…we’re getting somewhere. This MAY be healed before I get too far into chemo.
I hope to never have the need for one again, but if I ever have issues with stitches popping or dissolving before an incision is healed….and symptoms of oozing fluids…..I’m calling a wound specialist nurse immediately…and referring myself instead of seeing the GP and hoping for the best.
Today is a GOOD DAY!!!
