Hi All.
My father was diagnosed with Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma in last week of July, 2015. There is no Metastasis but the tumor is locally advanced (early type IV Bismuth classification). Our surgeon has indicated that its a borderline case of possible resection. Although surgery cannot be done yet due to high bilirubin levels. PTDB was done and now stents have been placed to take care of this. Re-assessment for surgery will be done after 3 weeks given bilirubin returns to normal. As per the research I have done so far, the surgery is very complicated and requires an experienced and skilled surgeon. Also the success rates vary significantly across institutions. The best numbers I have seen so far are from Nagoya University Hospital Japan http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19806294. I am looking for any information on best surgeons around the world for this type of surgery and preferable in India. Any help / resources on how to look for good surgeons will be great.
Thanks,
Aniket.
