SpectatorA relatively positive update. The pressure has been relieved from his stomach, he’s no longer feeling nauseous and he’s feeling better than he’s felt all week. He has a tube into his stomach, an IV drip for hydration and a catheter, but is much more conformable.

ModeratorSorry to hear about this Ali. When my dad was going through this in hospice and he had the vomiting real bad they put him on a syringe driver to help get his meds as that way he does not have to take them orally so they are more effective as he was bringing them up with vomiting..
I know this must be so hard for you being so far away from him as well. I can onlyt echo what Marion said to you about treating the vomiting etc as aggresively as possible and this and keeping him as comforetable as possible is of the utmost importance. Thinking of you.
Hugs,
Gavin

SpectatorThanks both.
Marion, we’ll try and make sure this is done, but it’s difficult form here and his Dad doesn’t like us ‘calling the doctors and wasting their time’
Lainy, he’s had some very good weeks since he was last in hospital, pretty much normal, so in many ways he’s been lucky.October 30, 2015 at 4:23 pm #89277marions
Moderatorali……the vomiting needs to be controlled by the physicians. Please make sure that it is “aggressively” addressed.

SpectatorAli, I am so sorry to hear this but is a wise move. There, they can make him comfortable until he decides he is ready to make his journey. He has fought a courageous battle and deserves some peace. You never know how strong you are until “strong” is the only choice you have!

SpectatorHe has secondaries in his liver and his digestive tract is blocked. He’s been moved to palliative care in his local hospital.

ModeratorHi Ali,
Real sorry to hear this latest news from you. Like Marion said to you, unfortunately this is all too common with this cancer and you will learn more later. My dad had this as well. Please let us know how things go and wishing you all my best wishes.
Hugs,
Gavin

Moderatorali…..I too am sorry to hear of the latest news. Most likely they will run a scan and look for a blockage, a not so rare occurrence with this cancer. Wishing for the absolute best.

SpectatorThanks Lainey, we had hoped so too and have been planning a proper trip to Oz next April. However I always reckoned that it was 50/50 that something would happen before then…..

SpectatorHi Ali, I was hoping Brian was off that roller coaster now. Please let us know what the ONC says. My best to you all!

SpectatorHello,
I have a wee update. Brian had a scan last Friday and is due to see his oncologist tomorrow. My partner spoke to him at the weekend and all was well. However we found out yesterday that he has been readmitted to hospital as he is unable to keep any food down. He’s not losing any blood this time, but any food comes straight back up. At least this time his oncologist is seeing him and that appointment is still tomorrow. We’ll know more then.

ModeratorGreat news Ali, thanks for sharing that with us all. Hoping that you and Rob hear more good nes from the upcoming scan and visit with the onc. Please keep us posted on this.
Hugs,
Gavin

Moderatorali…..all is on track and turned out rather well. Seems that the physicians are on top of the situation and that Rob’s Dad is in good hands.

SpectatorThank you all for your support.
Rob spoke to his Dad at the weekend and he’s feeling really well. He has another scan next month and then an appointment with the oncologist, so we’ll take it from there. Is seems that his tumour is very slow growing and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere else at the moment.
