That’s great chemo is working for you Karen. As you know it has different effects on people. You seem to be handling it well. You also seem to have incredible energy in being able to resume hiking and skiing, obviously very athletic before getting CC. Have you changed your diet?
I hope everything goes well with scans and keep us posted.

Karen, wishing and hoping for good scans on the 28th. Karen, you have something so special, your attitude, and it will get you far. Your skiing may be downhill but I will bet with the CC you will conquer every mountain! Please do keep us posted and wishing you the very best.

    Lainy,
Thanks for the sweet welcome. Yes I do have to learn a lot more about CC . I finish chemo next week and then have my first past surgery/chemo scans on the 28th. At that point, I will see where the journey wants to take me next and whee I am filling to follow.

    Debbie,
This indeed feels like a welcoming family. I am feeling well despite chemo and able to frequently play outdoors as well as working out at the gym. Yes I was pleased about the results of and rapid recovery from the resection.

    Marion,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I’ve been happily back out skiing and hiking for the past week and know I can get through one more week of chemo. My first scans are scheduled for the 28th and I’m very curious about the efficacy of the chemo.

Thanks for your reply. My gratefully short lived most frustrating side effects were the low neutrophils and anemia so I suddenly felt the infamous fatigue. Within a week , I had enough energy back to be out xc skiing and hiking again. They cut the gemzar back 25% for one week. Next week is my very last, but I expect the same will happen again. This close to the end I know I will survive!

Welcome to the site, and thank you for sharing. What are your side effects from the chemo? Does the oncologist suggest a break so the body can recover? How is your appetite and energy level?
Ask questions or share concerns with your oncology team.

Outdoorsgal…..love your stage name and love the outdoors as well. Sorry you are experiencing problems with the chemotherapy. Though it’s accumulative, most issues can be dealt with rather well.
What have been your problems specifically?

Thanks for joining in, we are glad you are here.

    Hugs

Dear Karen, you not only introduced yourself beautifully, you have come to the best place to be for CC support. First I would like to congratulate you on your successful surgery as “Surgery” is our favorite word. I hope you are relating to your Oncologist what ever is happening to you from the chemo as there are many ways to be helped through that part of the journey.
Knowledge is a very important tool in the CC fight. When you have a chance, read some of our Members posts or if you have a question you can use our Search Engine at the top of the page. Type in a word or 2 and many posts will appear on that subject.
Here is a site you may find helpful: http://cholangiocarcinoma.org/newly-dx/
Wishing you the very best and please do keep us posted on your progress as we truly care.

Greetings! I’m a new member and hope this is the way to introduce myself. I learned I have asymptomatic intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in Sept of 2016, had successful resection of a 9cm tumor in Oct, and embarked on chemo in Dec. because of extensive lymph-vascular invasion. Chemo is four cycles of gemzar and cisplatin. Despite being 71, the first two cycles barely disrupted my life; not so the third. Really don’t know what to expect from day to day now. Four more weeks to go.
