HI, Jack, and welcome! I’m your “neighbor” over here in Berea. What part of the state are you located in?
It’s true that KY is a very conservative place, but I have received wonderful help in dealing with this cancer from two acupuncturists, a holistic nurse, an energy healer, and a nutritionist here. There are also herbalists and other kinds of healers practicing here. So even if we don’t have a big naturopathic center, there are a lot of different people close by who can help you.
I was diagnosed in 2004 and had surgery, then a recurrence in 2006 treated with radiation. The tumors are still there but not progressing, and I give all the credit for that to acupuncture, qigong, energy healing, and enjoying every single day.
The people on these boards are the kindest, most helpful folks you’ll ever meet. I’m so glad you found us!

Welcome to the site and howdy do to you too! Sorry you had to find us but glad that you have joined us all. I came here back in summer of 2008 when my dad was diagnosed and like you, we were all stunned when we heard his diagnosis.
I hope you keep coming back here as you will get a load of support from us all. So please ask any questions that you will have. Thanks for sharing your story with us all and please don’t worry about doing things right in your posts. I wish you every success with your fight.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin

I am sorry to hear that your tumour is on the large side, hoping for some shrinkage for you with the chemo.
Wishing you strength on your journey. I am very interested to hear more about the Life Extension Programme you mention. I will look in to that….
Please come back often and update us with your progress,
Katie

April 7, 2010 at 11:41 pm #36640lainySpectatorWell, Howdy to you Jack and welcome to our family. I already posted under another site I saw of yours so will not repeat. You may want to look in to the Anti Cancer book as it is wonderful and has been used by people on this Board for nutrition and anti cancer diet. Good to have you aboard but sorry you had to take the ride.
April 7, 2010 at 9:36 pm #3329kentuckyjackMemberI’ve rarely posted my comments on any website, so I truly don’t know if I’m doing this right….but here goes for my introduction: I’m a 60-year old man who has just completed his fifth week on chemotherapy (Xeloda/capecitabine, Gemzar/Gemcitabine + Oxaliplatin/Eloxatin). I was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma slowly over a 2+ month period of testing beginning with my vist to an emergency room on Nov. 27, 2009, and ending with a visit to an oncologist in February, 2010 who described my 7.5 centimeter mass as “huge”. The liver surgeon had already finally determined that my previously-considered borderline-exciseable mass was in fact not within margins since it had infiltrated four lobes, destroyed one blood vessel supplying the liver and surrounded a second vessel. The smaller “half” of my liver is pretty much gone, although images of the second “half” appear much healthier and relatively free of malignancy.
I’ve been involved with Life Extension Foundation for several years, taking supplements to prolong healthy life, so I was stunned with the diagnosis–although a reason I’ve been the supplements is that I’ve strongly suspected that something was physically wrong with me for several years–despite passing my annual physicals with no major abnormalities beyond blood pressure and cholesterol challenges.
There exists in the state where I now reside a large group of extremely conservative, politically powerful allopathic physicians who have managed to keep naturopathic physicians from practicing here. So in this state there are no Cancer Centers of America, for example. So in order to get a more complete treatment for my illness I’ve been forced to obtain my naturopathic advice (vitamins, supplements, herbs, non-US medicine, etc.) on a telephone hotline from one of the two naturopathic cancer specialists with Life Extension Foundation. I don’t know how to post a link to any website (my computer literacy is very limited), so I’ll just say that if you run a search for Life Extension, you can join up and get some advice on supplements just as I do.
May God help us all. I know he is with us every hour of the day.
Howdy do, neighbors!
